»"So how's your family?" Jace ask as we walk around town like how we did every time after school.
"Erm... My parents got divorced, my Dad wants to move back here so we're back here." I responded with a shrug.
"What about your Mom?" His eyebrows furrowed, we could see the orange-red sky. The sun is setting.
"I am not very sure-- but positively sure that she doesn't want us anymore."
"Aren't you sad about it?"
"No." I answer quickly.
We fell into awkward silence, "we were in love." I muttered.
Knowing he didn't hear, I look down at my shoes.
"How are you then?" I ask him, Jace looks around before we cross the road.
He held my wrist tightly, "a lot of things have changed since you left."
We reached the place we wanted to go and he let go of my wrist.
"Like, we have to go through puberty.." Jace says in a low tone, he let out a light chuckle.
"Have your first love," he added.
"Oh is it someone I know?" I raise my eyebrows at him, I try my best to look happy for him.
"I am not sure, but you're going to school on Monday right? You will know then."
Oh, so he's still dating her.
We enter our hangout place, which is at Eve's Restaurant.
It's a restaurant in our town owned by our very good friend's parents.
I don't know much about the restaurant, really. But Eve Waters, she's a cheerleader. She have the brains and the guys.
She's not the head cheerleader for some reasons, she was really upset about it.
We call every once in a while, so we keep each other in contact but I didn't tell her I was coming back-- with Jace beside me.
"Hold on to my arm," Jace whisper into my ear.
Alarmed, I loudly questioned, "why?"
The people in the restaurant all turn to us.
I grip onto Jace's right arm tightly, "woah, you're still strong." He mutters as we walk towards the kitchen.
"Eve!" Jace shouted once he opens the door.
"What?!" She screech, "there's someone you need to meet!"
She walks out in her black apron, her hair in a messy bun.
"Ye- Xandra!" Her eyes widened with surprise at me.
"Oh my god-- Wait." Her smile faded.
"What are you both doing? How long have you been here? Did Jace locked you in his basement all these four years?!" Eve shouts at us, I let go of his arm.
"It's not what you think, its for safety reasons. You have scary customers in the restaurant." Jace explains.
"I just got here, we coincidentally met in the park and got here together. And no, he did not lock me in this basement." I explained and open up my arms for her to hug me.
"Oh this is such a nice surprise after such a bad day in school." Eve hugs me tightly.
She pulls away, and I look at her.
"What happened in school?" I ask.
Eve glares at Jace and I look over at him, "I didn't do anything." Jace calmly says.
"But his girlfriend did!" Eve shouted.
"Oh how much I hate her," she grumbles.
"I am sorry, Alexandra! But it's ridiculous."
"Why? Who is it?!" I ask, frustration filled my head.
"Your very very good friend, the head cheerleader, Diana Parker." Eve says with hatred shown in her eyes.
Eve has always hated my close friend, Diana. Eve could've become head cheerleader, but Diana snatch the spot instead. Diana mocked Eve for that.
"You're dating Diana?" I look at Jace, incredibly surprise.
"That's not the problem here! The problem is, she poured my hot noodles soup into my bag." Eve have her hands in her hair and I have my eyes on Jace.
"I have loved her when we were 14." Jace confess.
Ouch.
"She's your first love?" I ask, my eyes not leaving his grey eyes.
"Yeah." Jace nods, "I finally got her after four years, Anderson. Don't you feel proud?"
You're my first love, Jace.
And I can't get over my first love.
"Good for you." I flash a wide smile at him.
"Do I even exist in front of you guys?" Eve throw her hands up.
"Geez, I am off work soon. Just give me a few minutes." She stated and went to the back of the kitchen where the dishes are.
Jace and I fell into awkward silence, "I bet you haven't ate anything yet." He says.
"I couldn't bare to see you cry, it breaks my heart."
Jace's words rang in my ears, "I had a sandwich in the car." I told him.
"Let's get dinner," Eve joins us, her white Gucci handbag in her hands.
I nodded and walk out first.
»
"So since, Alexandra is back-- We should plan to camp out." Eve suggest.
"Great idea, when?" Cameron Levine joins us.
Cameron Levine is one of our good friends too, he's goofy in classes. And he's in the boys basketball team with Jace.
Also, he's secretly in love with crazy woman named, Eve Waters.
"Next weekend," Eve answer.
I then stare at the wooden wall, thinking back when we were only kids.
There was only Jace and I.
