Chapter Four

Title: Changing for the better 

It was finally upon them, the day when Alexis would leave the life she had known for so many years to a new one with many doubts and second guesses. At least she would not be completely alone with the comfort of her daughter being there by her side.

Five O'Clock had come quickly and by the ringing of the bell, she could only assume that Nicholas had already arrived to pick them up.

"Alexis, your boss is here" her mother yelled

Yes, with her suitcases packed and only her daughter as the familiar face she would know , she took the final steps to forgetting how she had reached to this stage of desperation. Nothing in her life before now could compare to the anxiety she felt.

"Coming ma!" she said "Is Mel, ready yet?"

"Since 4:40 am you idiot," her mom grumbled "Now hurry up,and get out"

Alexis laughed, "It sounds like your hurry for me to leave mother" kissing her forehead.

Her mom grumbled "no, my sweet" sighing " I just want you to finally live the life you deserve and i know this would be a good start for you."

"oh ma," a single tear slipped out of Alexis' eyes but her mom wiped it up "Are you sure you don't want to accompany us to the airport"

"Child, please just get out" she said "Melody is already in the car and Mr Drop dead handsome is waiting, i will be okay on my own"

That was the last time she would see her mother in a long long time, the car ride was long and silent, Nicholas said nothing to her and Mel had fallen asleep. To be honest the silence was welcomed. It allowed her to think about all the questions that played on her mind and how different scenario's would of played out and where she would be now instead of sitting in a car with someone who was more a stranger than anything driving off to a world, she never even knew existed till she searched for it. Maybe this was her brand new beginning.

Nova was a beautiful place and Nicholas hoped she would like it, he somewhat knew what it would be like to leave the place you had called home for years for somewhere that seemed behind God's back, he did it himself a few years back but this was different he was running away from his psychopathic brother Lorenzo, she would be doing this for the sake of beginning new and fresh from emotional hurt and not physical like he suffered.

He was sure she would love it and the people were friendly there, but that was from his perspective and he only moved back to his home country a year ago when his brother was shipped off to a prison in Atlantis.

But he was sure his sister Natalie and his younger brother Anthony would get her to warm up and out of the mood she would be in, if what he knew about women were correct. When Natalie's heart was broken by Marco, she cried and almost wanted to commit suicide, depression took over.

But he was sure soon the winds of time would change her mind about her self doubt he recognize took over when she overthought a simple solution to both their problems, but at the same time he could be considered a stranger to her.

Looking through the car glass at the window he sent a wish up towards the vast oceans of clouds that she would not get caught up in the web of lies, deceit and death that roamed the land of Nova, after all that was all that lurked around every corner.
