(a/n: if you are into Ryden fics, my friend brendon-at-the-disco just started her first fanfiction, it's called I Would Kiss You Even If You Were Dead and it's a real tear-jerker)
*Dallon POV*
Our school really went all out when it came to Prom. The student council had raised enough money to rent out the grand ballroom at a fancy hotel and had a professional DJ. The outside of the hotel had been decorated in black, green and silver ribbons and balloons. Gripping Brendon's hand tight, we walked through the doors and entered the dance.
Prom appeared like it would in pretty much every highschool movie, minus the sassy bitch that was sure to win queen and her jock boyfriend. No one in our group really cared about king or queen, we didn't need a crown to tell us we had won. Just having Brendon by my side was enough to make me feel like a King.
"Dally, I love this song."Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud was playing."Dance with me."
I was dragged onto the dance floor by an overexcited scruffy haired little emo boy. In so many ways he had changed since the day I met him, the day we smashed into each other, but at the same time he was still the same. We fell in love in a weird way, our love was forbidden by all social rules, breaking those chains was the best thing I could've ever done in my life. The way he giggled when I twirled him, the weight of his head on my chest as we swayed to the song, his big milk chocolate eyes, these were the things I lived for.
I wanted this moment to last forever. The beats of our hearts complimented each other as we swayed to the music. I'm sure our friends had gone off to do something else by now, leaving us to harmonize our heart beats. The song changed and to our surprise the next song was Holiday. I twirled Brendon one more time, just to see the way his eyes lit up as we switched our dance to match the boom of the bass.
---TIME SKIP----(a/n: cause I don't know what the fuck they do at prom)
Brendon and I decided to ditch the dance a little early, since all that was left to do was crown king and queen and who cares about that. Brendon was clutching my arm and laughing, we didn't know where we were going, but we didn't care.
"Dally, let's go get Ice Cream." Brendon squealed, noticing the Marble Slab across the street.
I couldn't refuse his excitement, he was adorable when he got excited, like a puppy getting a treat. Many people stared at us when we walked in holding hands, but by now we were used to all the looks you could possibly give a gay couple. The bored college student behind the counter waited for us to choose our flavors and topics before lazily mixing them together. I had this weird feeling that we were being watched, but every time I turned around the few people in the place had gone back to their frozen desserts. It was like there was something in the corner of my eye that I could never see.
"You know what we should do after this?" Brendon whispered as we sat down in a booth in the back.
"What?" I matched his tone and volume.
"I think we should get a hotel room and have a little fun tonight." He whispered seductively, so only I could hear it.
"Oh, what kind of fun" I giggled softly.
"Totally up to you"
"You know what Bear, I think I might just take you up on that offer." I leaned back in the seat, taking a bite of Ice Cream.
We stayed there for another half hour, laughing about stupid thing we had done. The we got into the deep stuff he, he told me stories about how life was before his parents became abusive assholes, I told him about life when my parents could remember my name. We soon got texts from our group asking we had disappeared off to, then our group had reunited and we stayed until we were kicked out. The whole time I still felt an unknown presence, like someone was right behind me, but every time I went to check the store was empty.
I put my arm around Brendon and we walked out of the Ice Cream parlor.
"Brendon Boyd Urie." We turned in unison toward the harsh, raspy female voice.
She couldn't turn up now we just rid of him. I wrapped my arm tighter around his shoulders, I would protect him now and nothing was going to happen to him, he would walk away unharmed.
"M-mom" Brendon's voice trembled, she was hidden partially in the shadows, all I could see was her frame and her face.
"You ruined everything, your father and I could've broken up and parted ways never to see each other again, but no you ruined everything!" She spat, remaining in the shadows.
All chatter had stopped in the group behind us as they realized what was going on. I felt helpless, all I could do was stand there and hold him to my side protectively. The only thing I could do is pretend to be strong, even though Brendon was stronger me, he had always been the strong one.
"And now I hear my sons a fag, I guess that's true as well. You weren't content with ruining my life, you had to go ruin my reputation to. It's a shame, your boyfriends kinda cute, I wonder-"
"Don't you fucking touch him" Brendon cut her off, leaning into me a bit more. He was shaking, but he couldn't let her know that.
She stepped out of the shadows and revealed what she was holding. In her hand was a handgun.
"What are you doing?" Brendon's voice grew shaky.
"Something I should've done a long time ago."
Time slowed down, she raised the gun, pointing it at the small figure nestled into my side. Before she could pull the trigger I shoved brendon out of the way and jumped in front of him. If she wanted to hurt him she was going have to get through me.
There was a sudden sharp pain below my chest, and my vision went blurry. Brendon was okay, he wasn't harmed. I heard screams and cries as I collapsed to the ground, but they were muffled by the beat of my heart.
"Dally, dally please." I saw Brendon knelt next to me, I could make out his handsome face through the black spots. "Dally, you're okay. It's not that bad." He had taken off his bright blue jacket and had it pressed to my chest.
"I love you" I used the last of my strength to reach up and stroke his cheek. The last thing I saw were his beautiful eyes, the color of melted chocolate, before the enveloping black welcomed me, it welcomed me to the close.
