Ten : Rayne

I really don't know what to expect as I'm ushered by Tierra into the training room. She immediately gets to pulling things from the shelves built into the walls, instructed by Percikan to start the training process with me until she can get there and take over herself. I know that she's just creating a plan for everyone else to follow, but I still can't help but wonder if I've already managed to make a bad impression.

Tierra sighs softly, a few multicolored buckets and some ancient-looking towels in hand. "Okay, I know that you're new to this, Rayne. Hence why I'm going to start you off easy and not trying to bring water into out little desert like Kannie would have you doing." She sets some larger buckets on the floor in a row in front of me, then making another row with a few smaller ones. "So we're going to see how you even access your abilities. And if that goes over well, we'll try some target practice.

"It's going to take a while to actually figure out how to channel your power, but if you do figure it out," she waves around a towel, "at least we have something to clean it up with." She slings them over her shoulder and plops down onto  the floor. "So. Let's get some weird things over and covered. You can Kannie are elemental oppositions, ya know what that means?"

I just shake my head no. We haven't even gotten into training yet, and already she's gone over my head. "No? Great. Basically, oppositions are when two elements can't connect with almost killing everyone. You and Kannie are an example of that. She's fire, and flames can be put out with water. You're water, which can turn into air if too much heat is applied. Now, I'm not saying that if she gets to close to you when she's in one of her tempers that you'll become an air power like Ventus. You can't just trade powers, trust me, Doku has tried. It would probably be best if you steered clear of Blitz for a while too though, or at least until your powers are more under control. Just ignore him if he starts spewing out some shit about electricity being attracted to water."

"So...stay away from Kannie and ignore Blitz. Sounds easy enough." I actually wouldn't mind trying to stay away from those two in particular. Is there any possible way I can stay away from Rem too? She...they, I mean, kind of freak me out a little. I probably won't get a hang of the whole pronoun situation for a while, but I'll try. It's just different, I've never actually met anyone before that didn't call themselves a guy or a girl. But hey, I've met a few enigmas while I've been here, who's to say there aren't a lot more out there?

Tierra just snorts and shakes her head a little, purple hair flopping into her eyes. "Yeah, it sounds easy until you actually try. I dare you to stay away from Blitz for an entire day. He'll just start popping up everywhere you look, I swear. But powers, we were talking about powers. Just a quick warning, I get off topic so easily in these training scenarios that it's loco. So, this is probably the only advice I can give in the whole channeling-the-element stuff - don't think about it. Like, concentrate on the situation  at hand, but don't think 'oh yeah, I'm just going to create a house with nothing but a twig and a clump of dirt.' No, actually picture yourself creating whatever it is you're trying to make, in this example it's a house, and just try. I really shouldn't have used something that I'd do and not something for you, but whatever. I'm the dirt girl, not the water girl."

"So like...picture I'm filling up one of these buckets with water and just do it? Don't verbally think it?" I step up closer to one of the buckets and put my hand out over it. I don't know why I think this will work, but it's worth a shot, at least. So in my mind, I just imagine the bucket of water filling up, and out comes a little stream of water from the palm of my hand. Like any normal newly-made fish person would do, I start freaking out and accidentally manage to douse myself and the floor with water the second my concentration breaks.

She just starts cackling like I've never heard anyone laugh before, tossing over one of the towels and starting to mop up one of the puddles herself. "And voila, you've channeled your powers for the first time. Just try not to soak Kannie like you just soaked yourself next time she tries working with you."

"Will do," I laugh in return, helping her clean up the rest of the mess before we continue on with my basic training. It doesn't seem like I've done all that much here, but to me, it seems like I've conquered the world. I can control water. I've seen it with my own eyes, I can actually do this and it's not just some sort of weird joke. I honestly can't wait to continue with this, I want to learn as much as I can now that I know I can actually do it.

Score one point for fish boy. In your face, Kannie (even though she's never actually said otherwise but I just don't like being called fish boy. It's a bit insulting). I can do something awesome for once. Where's my prize?
