With all that's going on with the twins and all that jazz, I never do notice Doku and Blitz make their escape. It's only until I overhear Rayne ask where his apparent new friend is that I even notice that the two are gone. It really doesn't concern me all that much, seeing how Blitz is constantly getting on my nerves and Doku...is Doku. I never really see much of him, and when I do, it's usually just because he's delivering a message of some sort around the Ring for someone desperate enough to ask him for help. I still don't see why Rem doesn't just stab him with that scythe of theirs, but whatever. It would just be one less mouth to feed and one less person to keep track of as far as I'm concerned.
I just dismiss their absence and go back to eating. There's just something about twice-charred cactus that makes me calm down a little for once. At least that keeps up until Rem and Levi walk into the Mess Hall and draws all the attention away from the peace and quiet. Damn, and I was really enjoying the silence, too. But it is good to see that Rem is doing okay after the events from yesterday, even if I lose my rare quiet time.
It is a bit strange seeing the two out of their usual comfort zones for once, even though it's more than enough proof for dear little Fishy Boy that they're what Tony said they are. Levi actually looks feminine for once, while Rem's masculinity is showing through for once in their life. It probably helps that there are bandages wrapped around the top of Rem's chest and make it a little difficult to put a shirt on comfortably. I see Aquaman staring again for a moment, at least until Levi shoots him a glare and forces his gaze back on the bowl of cactus in front of him.
I snort a little, finishing up my own meal and dropping off the plate before going over to the twins. Rem doesn't seem interested in eating today, but that's okay. I won't make them do anything today after that whole fiasco. "It's good to see you up and running again, Rem." I sit in the seat across from Levi, forcing them to take their feet off of it. "Feeling alright?"
I only get a nod in response, but I guess that's to be expected. It's not like that bit of trauma can just be forgotten in a few hours of sleep. Levi just pats their sibling's shoulder with a sigh. "It'll be a little while, but they'll be okay. Just don't put Rem through a lot of vigorous training for a week or so and everything should heal up nicely." It probably helps that Levi is in fact the healer here and does in fact know exactly know what they're talking about.
I just nod slightly and get up, ready to go wake up Mufasa and get Fish Boy started on some more training. I feel like Ventus would make a good instructor for him today, since I really don't feel like putting my neck on the line for a rookie. One drop of water too many and I'm probably toast, so that won't be happening until he has better control and understanding of his new 'gift.' Just thinking it puts a sour taste in my mouth. Or maybe that's just leftover cactus. Who would know?
I make my way down the hall to my brother's room, smiling a little at the sight of the 'Do Not Feed the Bears' sign on his door. Some of the signs in here are more for safety reason than anything, but that one's pretty funny, since Mufasa is just about the gentlest one out of all of us, despite the fact that he likes to decapitate mice for fun and eat the corpses. He's my petri dish partner. I'm allowed to think this stuff.
I open up the entry with a sigh, expecting him to come bounding out at any second once it's fully opened, but it never comes. Okay, he's probably still sleeping, that's fine. This is normal, right? Except the second I go in to wake him up, he's not there. Everything is in disarray, from the pile of bones from long-deceased rodents to the claw marks on the walls, nothing is in its right place at all.
Someone's broken into the Ring and taken Mufasa, and I don't know where to start. Hell, someone could've taken Blitz and Doku too without me realizing it. Three members of the team are missing, and I don't have a clue where they could've gone.
The last thing I know is falling, and then darkness takes over.
