I'm almost terrified at the thought of retrieving Kannie and explaining just what was possibly going to happen. Mufasa and Rem I didn't mind getting, but her...yeah, I'm panicking on the inside right now. It must've showed too, since the second I walk back into the training room, Kannie looks right up at me with a sigh.
"Let me guess, Tony found something and needs everyone else to determine what it is that he's seeing, even though he's literally the most intelligent out of all of us?" I merely nod hastily in response. "I really have been doing this for too long," she sighs before gently telling Mufasa to follow me out.
It's almost a relief to have the kid bounding happily next to me. I'm not even particularly sure if Mufasa can stand up straight, since I've never actually seen him do so. But it's not in my place to judge, not when we all know why exactly he was like that in the first place. We've heard the story to many times to even forget why we're all here. It honestly surprises me that someone hasn't wrangled up Rayne and told him everything he needed to know already. Maybe it's because that's usually Kannie's job and no one really wants to step in her way for any particular reason.
We get to Tony's room in no time, probably since Mufasa keeps tugging on my sleeve with his teeth to hurry up. The home to our precious cyborg is practically the epicenter of everything technology. There are screens on every wall, so many that it would be impossible for an outsider to determine which one meant what. He's currently hooked up to one of the radars, or so I assume, since that particular screen has been pulled down to eye level and there's wires protruding from his wrist that connect to it. It's an obvious guess, but whatever.
Kannie arrives a moment later, followed closely behind by Rem. "Okay, Tony. This better be good, so spill it." He doesn't even bother to turn around, just starts spewing out technological terms that none of us understand in the least. "Common tongue, Metalhead, common tongue."
He actually does throw her a quick glare before attempting to continue. "I haven't gotten any living activity on the radar in three years, but if you look in one of the farther reaches of it," he points a metallic finger to a little green dot that's moving on the screen, ever-so-slowly making its way closer to the Ring in the center, "there's actually activity. There shouldn't be anything like this ever, let alone in the smack middle of the desert."
"So whataya want me to do about it? I can't exactly do anything based on the findings of a green dot. Ya sure it's not just a cactus?" The sass level is certainly high with Kannie today, that's for certain. I have to jam my fangs into my lip so I don't start laughing.
"I don't know, send out Levi and Mufasa to see if it's actually living or not. And if it is, see if it's friendly.""And what are we supposed to do if it's deadly?" Rem decides to cut in. "Just hope that Fasa doesn't get his tail bitten off and cross our fingers that Levi can negotiate a peace treaty? Maybe we can make that hundredth Treaty of Paris that's written in human history." I actually hear Blitz snicker a little from that one.
I'm pretty sure I see Tony's laser eye flash on for a second. If there's one person here that annoys the shit out of him, it's Rem. It's no secret that they just wanted to leave him for dead when we first took Tony in. Not that it would've been a big deal at the time, but he's actually proven to be pretty useful to us through the years, even if he's even more antisocial than I am and can't stand the thought of anyone touching his stuff. "No, then you get your perky little butt out there and kill the goddamn thing for us. Sound easy enough now?"
Rem scrunches up their nose in confusion for a moment. "Since when have you been looking at my butt?" They even make the point to glance back there and tug down their rising mini skirt. "But would that even work? What if it's not living and this is all just some kind of trick like last time you 'found something?'" For someone who acts dumb half of the time, Rem really does know what they're talking about when they're done trying to look cute.
Tony spins back around and starts typing something on his double keyboard. It's almost mesmerizing to watch his fingers fly on the stacked devices, one hand positioned a few inches higher up than the other. "That's when you go out and see if it's not just a fluke, Rem. It's amazing what you can find out if you only go out and see for yourself." His voice is calm again, so much so that it's almost robotic.
"Okay, I'm confused. What's even going on and why does it concern me?" It's just then that I realize that Rayne's even in here with us.Kannie merely smiles, though it's more dark than friendly. "You'll see, Fish Boy. But first, you get to train your powers and show us just what you've got up those water-soaked sleeves of yours. No missions for you until we get your powers under control." She steps a little closer to him, and even though she's way shorter than him, it's pretty intimidating to watch. "May the force be with you, young tadpole."
