"Well, where is everyone else?" I asked, looking around trying to find the others.
"Tyan and I were by the front tire with Mr. Flanskey," Mom said. "He was showing her some tricks." She cocked her head. "Madison was on the other side of the truck talking with her parents, and I think I saw Cale heading that way."
My face paled and my whole body tensed. "H-h-he what?" I asked, hoping that I didn't hear right.
"Cale went to talk to Madison," Mom said, slower. She gave me a weird look, as if she was trying to figure me out. "Why? What happened?"
I shook my head, gritting my teeth together. "Cale was just being an asp to me, and I don't want him anywhere near my friends until I trust him."
"Trust who?" Tyan asked, coming over to us while she was holding a snowglobe. She smiled and blushed, seeing my confused look. "Mr. Flanksey made it," she said. "Said I could see my house if I am ever away from it."
I nodded my head and looked at Frankie, frowning.
"You have a couple of them," he said. "They are in your room at your father's house."
I nodded again. "So, what are we going to do about Madison and Cale?"
"We could get Mika to honk the horn and see how they would react to it..." John said. "Though I think you should tell us as to why we can not trust Cale."
I nodded. "When we are all in the truck, I will," I replied. I moved to the front, gesturing for Mika to walk with me.
"So I get to do it?" Mika asked.
"Yes but wait for my command to do it," I said.
I opened the passenger side door before looking at my dog. "Mika, up," I said, moving my hand up and into the car.
She got in and sat down at the horn. A smirk was on her face while she watched as I opened the back door and clambered in. "It's been a while since I did this," she mused, causing me to nod my head.
I moved to the driver's back side and slid down in the seat, making sure that I wasn't seen. I could see that Madison and Cale were leaning against the driver's side and was not paying attention to the car. "Mika, honk honk," I said, pretending to honk the horn.
Mika nodded her head before putting her paw where the horn was at.
Honk, Honk.
I laughed when I saw that they jumped and turned towards the truck. I sat up, causing Madison to glare at me and couldn't help but laugh more when she did so.
"Mary!" Madison exclaimed, pouting. She opened the door and narrowed her eyes at me. "What was that for?"
I shrugged. "I was wanting to get both of your attention and not having to walk around the truck," I replied. "Come on, we have to get going." I glanced at Cale before looking at Madison, hoping that she would notice that I didn't trust him.
Madison sighed and looked at Cale. "I'll text you. I have to get going. We're going to a horse barn and rescue horses."
Cale nodded. "Hey, do you know where Bob Marley's Home Buffet is?" Cale asked after a couple of minutes. "My dad and I are sort of lost, and we could really use the help."
"Ya, I do," I replied, hopping out of the truck.
"Can you give me and my father some directions?" he asked.
"Sure."
"I could do it, also," Madison said. She gave me a pleading look, which I had ignored. I didn't trust Cale, and I wasn't going to let Madison anywhere near him, not until I knew that he could be trusted.
"Nah, it's fine. Mary can do it," he said, causing Madison to glare at me in warning.
I looked at Mika, and I didn't need mind reading to know what she was saying with the look she was giving me.
"I told you so."
