Chapter 3 Maccy's POV
I wake up, rubbing my eyes. My cheeks still feel stiff with tears. I would cry more, but i'm all cried out.
What happens now? I was supposed to be going home...do I just spend my whole life in a stupid hospital?
I hear a creak in the door. My head whips around to see Rose standing in the doorway.
"hey Kenz!" She smiles lightly.
I give her a forced grin.
"Don't do that with me." She sighs.
"Do what?" I ask.
"Put on a fake grin so I don't worry....Kenzie I've been with you quite some time now...I know when your smiles are real." She says.
I drop the grin and sigh.
"I know.."
"Hunny you've been so strong! But it's OK to breakdown at some point. Everybody does! You were just too strong for too long." She says hugging me.
"I physically don't think I have any tears left to cry anyway." I grunt.
"Anywho...I think I have good news." She half smiles.
"You think?" I question.
"Well someone has been willing to take you in." She smiles wider.
"R-really...did you tell them the truth?" I smirk.
"Of course....don't worry it's not a complete stranger. Apparently you have a cousin..-" She starts but I cut her off.
"I don't have any cousins. My moms sister never had children...but then again they haven't talked in years..." I think to myself.
"Well turns out that she does have a son...he's much older than you, I believe he is in his early twenties, or about to be...but despite his youth.he is willing to call you his daughter/sister." She explains her smile growing wider with every word.
"And despite my problems?" I ask.
"Yes!" She smiles.
"Oh...well I guess that's good." I shrug.
"It's fantastic!" She cheers.
"OK now done with happiness...what's the catch?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Well....I was getting to that....he lives in Manchester." She says her smile faltering for a bit, "You will have to make a weekly check up with the Saint Judes Hospital in Manchester. Doctor Ross sometimes goes down there anyway."
"Oh." I sigh.
***Dan's POV***
"Phil stop screwing around! We need to clean this place up!" I yell.
"Aww come on lemme finish this round of Mario Kart then I will help." he whines.
"NO! MacKenzie is coming tomorrow! Now get off your lazy bum and help me!" I sigh in annoyance.
I still can't believe that I have a cousin. Mom never even mentioned that I have an aunt!
The girl said that I'm her last hope or else she is sent to an orphanage....I couldn't do that. Especially to a cancer patient.
I realize that I may be too young for a kid but what else could've I done?
"Oh Alright!" Phil grunts, getting from the couch and into his room for some major cleaning.
I set up the couch with some sheets and a pillow with lots of blankets. I want her as comfortable as possible.
I scramble around the kitchen to make an easy dinner. Eh how bout just oredering Pizza...sounds like plan!
