When I woke up the next morning, I was wrapped in Asher's embrace. It seems weird, being 'soulmates' , in a sense. It doesn't make me feel any more comfortable sleeping in the woods with a boy holding me. He must have felt me stir, because he wakes up and smiles down at me. "I could get used to this." Oh great, he just woke up and making innuendos. It's too early for that. He chuckles, letting me know he read my thoughts, again. "You really need to stop doing that." I muttered as I glare up at him.He winks at me and says, "C'mon sleepyhead, time to get up." I get up, and start to walk away from him, with my chin held high. I'm gonna play a little game with him, where I pretend to be offended. "Danny?! Hey? Where are you going?" Pause. "Danny?! What did I do? Come on!" He starts to come after me and I'm trying so hard not to laugh. I start running, although I don't know why, he's faster than me. I let out a squeal as he wraps his arms around my waist and lifts me over his shoulder. "I'm not a sack of potatoes! Put me down!" He ignores me and continues walking back to our make shift camp site.
"Wanna tell me why you ran away from me," he pauses before saying "again", under his breath. I don't say anything, just go to the fire and glare at it. He starts to groan in frustration before I cut him off with a very unladylike snort of laughter. He looks over at me, shocked. "What are you laughing at?" This time, I can't hold it in. "I can't," chuckles, "believe," more chuckles, "you believed that." I managed to get that much out before I'm on the ground clutching my stomach while tears roll down my face.
Needless to say, Asher is not very happy. He huffs like a little boy and stomps off after I calm down. "Oh come on, Asher. Don't pout." He glares at me while he makes breakfast. Luckily for me, this isn't the first time I pulled something like this, so I know how to calm him down. That, and I think it's just kind of natural ever since I learned about the 'soulmate' thing.
I make my way over to him, and since he's standing, I wrap my arms around his waist and press my cheek on his back. I feel him sigh, and smile to myself. "You know I'm not mad at you, right?" He asked me. "I know, Asher, but it seemed like you were. I was kind of worried that you were." He sighs again and spins around in my arms so now we're facing each other.
He smiles at me and wraps his arms around my waist. "It's going to be hard, but we're gonna try and make this work." I'm assuming he's talking about the soulmate thing, and how we're gonna fight. No matter how much we don't want to.
