Chapter 1: The Visit

Today was a very sunny and warm morning.

My phone had started to ring.

*on the phone*

"Hello"

"Hey Arianna" Allison said

"Hey, Im just now getting ready for school"

"Okay, I was just calling to remind you to not forget about your project" she said

"Oh my god, I totally forgot about that"

"See its a good thing I reminded you" she said

"Yeah, I guess. But I will see you at school"

"Okay bye" she said as we hung up.

When I was done getting dressed, I grabbed my bag and walked downstairs, where I saw my mom wiping away tears.

"Mom whats wrong?"

"Its your grandma...Her health is getting worst" she said.

My whole good attitude had left.

"How bad is it?"

"I don't know, the doctor said there's no telling when she would take her last breath" she said.

I played the last two words she said over in my head.

I had felt a tear roll down my face. I couldn't say what I wanted because the bus had pulled up.

I got up, looked at my mom who began to cry again, and walked out.

When I had got on the bus Allison, had asked me what was wrong. So I told her.

About 2 minutes later, Elijah and Keon got on the bus.

While they started talking, I just stared out the window, thinking about the times I've spent with my grandma.

-Allison POV-

When I looked at Arianna, she looked so sad. I felt bad for her.

"Hey, whats wrong with Ari" Keon asked.

Ari is what Keon calls her. Keon is seventeen and he has liked her since last month, but he told me not to say anything.

"Her grandma is getting sicker. So now they don't know when she last day might be"

"No, not granny B" Elijah said.

Yeah, all of us have been friends with Arianna for so long, that her grandma was like a grandma to us.

Elijah is my boyfriend, he is also seventeen.

"Wow, I know she is really upset" Keon said.

I thought to myself for a moment. What if...

I tapped Arianna and said "Why don't we go visit your grandma after school"

"We could, but my mom will kill me for not telling her first" she said.

"But she should understand"

"Yeah, plus remember you dont know, when her last day is" Keon said

"They're right" Elijah said.

-Arianna POV-

They were right.

I won't know when her last day is.

"Okay"

They smiled at me, after school we would visit my grandma.

*After school*

When school was over, we all put together the money we had for a cab and headed towards the hospital.

when we got there we headed to the front desk and asked where her room was.

The lady was kind enough to bring us to her room. When I walked inside, I felt a tear fall.

"Im here" I thought.

I walked closer to her bed. The rest of them stayed by the door.

"Grandma.." I said quietly.

She opened her eyes. "Arianna" She said

I grabbed her hand. "Yes its me grandma, Im here"

Why does this have to happen to her.

"Arianna, Im sure you already know I don't have much time left" she said

My eyes got wide at her words, as I cried even more.

"I need you to do something for me" she said

"Yes anything grandma"

She went under her pillow and grabbed a key.

"Take this key, and under my bed there is a chest" she said

"Wait, whats in the chest?"

"Oh my dear, there is many things I can't explain to you right now. Only you can foresee and save the future" she said

"But grandma, we don't know what the future is going to be"

"Oh, you will know, trust me you will. Just promise me..you will open it when you get home" she said.

She handed me the key. "I promise"

After are talk, I was getting ready to leave until she stopped me and said "Whatever you do, don't let your mother see you with this key, nor should you let her see the chest"

"Why not"

"Like I said, I can't explain everything...just don't" she said.

"Okay"

I kissed my grandma on the cheek as a final farewell.

Then we all left.
