David grumbled as April sat him up. The numbness made all movement feel unreal. He couldn't move, which meant if he fell there was no way of catching himself, but April told him that she's here to protect him. "Do you really not remember anything," she asked him picking up the glass of water. He nodded. "Only my name, and I'm still guessing where that came from." She put the glass to his lips and he drank. "That's an important memory. I guess the brain just processes what it tries hard to remember." She moved the glass away. "I could remember things sooner if you just told me what you knew." "And I told you, only our leader can tell you the things you want to know." He looked away from her. "Well she better. Leader or not I'm going to do anything for that information. I don't have anything to lose." He caught something out of the corner of his eye and went to turn. A hand slapped him around the face. His cheek glowed red. "Don't you ever say that! You're too damn great to let die again!" April had tears going down her cheeks. David just sat there. "A random guy. Wakes up in a destroyed world. Fights a huge monster. Faints. Wakes up in a strange place. Gets told He's someone great. Then gets slapped in the face. I feel really damn special right now." April sat on the side of the bed. "You're my friend. I can't just let you die. Not again anyway. Last time I didn't really have a choice. It was yours. But I can keep you from making any more mistakes. This place needs you. So you have much to lose." She patted his head. He couldn't think of anything to say. He just thought through the plans in his mind. They're were others in this place that knew him. Some liked him, others didn't. And this leader seemed like his only source of knowledge. He had people to help him. "April, thank you. I think it's time I finally meet her."
