Picture is of Anima University, not exact. Imagine the domes and tunnels underwater.P.O.V. Third person
The many students who received a wax sealed envelope slowly trickle into the train station. Their parents help them with their luggage and exchange tearful goodbyes. The people who're supposed to watch over the kids on the train ride seem to pay more attention to four kids in particular. They appear to be just like every other kid at the train station. You wouldn't know just by looking at them that they're the kids who hold the most powerful abilities of all.
A train whistle blows just as a train comes into view from an underwater tunnel. The train comes to a stop at the station, making the crowd turn to the track. A man in a bright orange suit steps off the train. He waves to someone inside the ticket booth and they ring a loud bell to get the attention of anyone who didn't turn to the track already. He raises his hand to silence the bell and speaks,
"Hello parents and students. My name is Bryan Denver. We are so very happy that you have decided to join us for this trip to Anima University, the school your children will be staying at for the next five years or so. Now, I know that this is all very sudden but just know that your children have been carefully chosen by the Government to attend this unique school for Gifted. If you would please say 'Goodbye' to your children, we shall take over from here." The last few words cause an uproar in the crowd,
"What do you mean'the next five years or so.'?"
"Selected by the Government!" and so forth. Bryan simply waves his hand in dismissal,
"Come, come. You all read the letter, I presume, and it clearly states that your child will be attending this school for about five years." People immediately rummage through their bags and take out the letter, scanning it for evidence of Bryan's claim.
"He's right! We won't see our children for another five years!" a man shouts, waving the letter in the air.
"You'll be able to see your children, but only on the designated days listed." Bryan assures them. This seems to please the crowd, but only slightly, "Now please, say 'Goodbye' to your children and let them board the train." Bryan repeats. The people oblige and finally say goodbye to their children. After all is well and done, the train sets out on its way through the underwater tunnel to Anima University."You all sit in this room." the Guard directs four kids into one of the various rooms in the many train cars. They comply, file into the room, and sit down. They look at each other with curiosity and awareness. For a few minutes not a word is spoken between them until,
"Well, I'm Adish Sprague. Since we're going to be in the same school for five years, why don't you guys tell me your names?"Adish says. The others look at each other in expectancy before one of the girls speaks up,
"I'm Luna Okol." The other three kids visibly relax and introduce themselves,
"Terrence Sczech."
"Muna Krone."
"Anastasia Surtees." The children converse about the things they've left behind and the lives they've let thus far.Suddenly, Luna jumps up from her seat,
"Someone's coming. I can't tell if they're good or bad." she says.
"What do you mean, 'can't tell if they're good or bad'?" Adish asks. Luna immediately realizes her mistake of revealing her powers,
"Nothing! I just meant 'I wonder if they're mean or nice.'" She hurriedly replies. She sits back down and puts her hands in her lap.
"She's right. Someone's coming." Anastasia says. The kids become quiet and listen intently.Thump, thump, thump, thump.
They gasp at the sound of footsteps coming closer.
Thump, thump, thump, thump.
The door to the car slides open and Bryan Denver's head pops in through the doorway. Muna reflexively shrieks.
"Sorry! Sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone." Bryan apologizes. Adish shakes his head,
"It's okay, Mr. Denver," he assures him, "You didn't mean any harm. Muna's just a wimp." He and Terrence snicker. Ignoring the comment, Mr. Denver explains his intrusion,
"I'm just checking on the cars to make sure everyone's okay." Looking around the small room, the kids tell him,
"We're fine."
"Really?" Mr. Denver asks with a worried expression.
"We're ok, Mr. Denver." Luna replies firmly.
"Positive?"
"Definitely." Anastasia replies.
"Are you sure? Because I ca-"
"JUST GO ALREADY!" Terrence shouts. Mr. Denver looks shocked for a second before regaining his composure. With a nod towards the kids, he silently leaves, pulling the door closed behind him. The kids stay quiet for a few minutes when Luna speaks up,
"That was kind of harsh, don't you think?" Terrence turns to Luna with a hard glare in his eyes,
"I don't appreciate people putting their nose into things that don't concern them."
"They're just checking on us." Muna states.
"There's something off about this whole situation." Terrence says with a strong sense of determination in his voice, "And I'm going to find out what."Just as he finishes, the train emerges from the tunnel to show a breathtaking view. The kids jump out of their seats and run to the windows. Clear sea water reveal brightly colored corals and fish, and underwater cliff, and various assortments of sea life. White-sand beaches lead to emerald green trees with the occasional red, orange, yellow, or pink tree randomly occurring on the land. The sky is a brilliant blue with white, wispy clouds dotting the sky. But the most amazing thing of the view was the building nestled in the center of everything. It has four towering pillars supporting many rooms with one room with a helicopter pad on top. The others have other rooftop uses such as outdoor tables for eating and studying, courts for various sports, and many other areas. A circular room below water connects to a network of tunnels leading to multi-size glass domes. Above that room above water is another circular room that looks to be a large activity room.
Suddenly, the darkness of the tunnel quickly envelopes the train again. The kids sit down, speechless.
"Wow." Adish says.
"Yeah." Anastasia replies.
"It's nice." Muna whispers.
"Can we speak in more than two word sentences, please?" Luna exclaims.
"It's fake." Terrence states. The others turn to him with shock,
"What?"
"It's fake." Terrence repeats, "They're trying to fool us into thinking it's safe and cool when really we're being led into a trap." He says calmly.
Luna leans over to Muna and Anastasia,
"Okay... Someone's on his man-period." she whispers. They giggle but soon stop once Terrence gives them a cold look."Attention all Gifted, we have reached the University." a deep voice says over a crackling intercom. Everyone rushes to the doors once the train stops and hurries into a glass, underwater dome. An official looking man walks into the dome from the tube connecting to the main ground floor,
"Welcome, Gifted, to Anima University!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey-o! I'm afraid that I misread the instructions for NaNoWriMo. They now say that the deadline for NaNoWriMo is November 24th. WWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Now I have to work 20 times as hard to finish this novel. I want to thank everyone who's helping me write and advance this book. You make me so happy and even though you don't comment, I wan to thank you. Also, I'm going to write an Author's Note or something like that to explain the words, characters, and other important things. I didn't use my name for the character Luna. Luna is my internet nickname which I got from my first name, Lauren. Just thought I'd clear that up. Sooooo, that's it for this chapter!
Vale,
Luna
