Only five more minutes to endure of Mr. Lenard's lecture about the intellectual reactions of the human brain, I was debating whether to ask to be excused and not come back but I figured I would sit through the last five minutes of the day. Levi threw a piece of crumbled paper at my head but it somehow made its way and hit Alexis Martin in the head instead. Her natural blonde ponytail swished around and her pink cheetah print bow moved with her head, she shot me a dirty look. Levi gave me a sheepish smile and looked down at his notes. I turned around; Mr. Lenard was standing in front of my desk. He adjusted his thick black eyebrows at me.

"Sorry- I sunk deep into my seat as my face grew rosy and hot. Everybody let out a small chuckle, as the bell rang twice. Talk about saved by the bell.

Alexis was the last one out the door and she shot a dirty look at me. I grabbed my psych homework and crammed it with my other hundred pound calculus book and government homework. Her hate for me only grew as her and Levi got closer. We used to keep it as an understanding that she hates me, now she makes it known physically as if I somehow forgot that I cut her ponytail off in second grade. I grudgingly pulled my bag over my shoulder and Levi began walking with me. I looked down watching his feet go a couple inches further than mine could on the different colored tiles. He had his hands in his pockets and his bag over his shoulder like usual.

I remembered that he always had his black and green Jansport backpack on him, both straps on each shoulder. Now, he still somewhat resembled that kid, only grownup and getting real friendly with Alexis Martin. Everybody said they were already dating, he hasn't said that its true, but hasn't denied it either. The main thing, he hasn't told me, yet.

"Sorry about getting you into trouble," He muttered also looking down, his pace slowing as we neared his car. I stared at the passenger seat, the seat that recently been taken away from me, unwillingly of course. I died to tell him that I wanted to kick Alexis in the face for stealing my seat so close to him, but I kept my mouth shut with a fake smile, spread across my face.

"Ryder?" Levi questioned clearly interrupting my pity party I was celebrating silently.

"Oh- it's fine..." I answered back to him. "Hey, I am going to walk home today, I don't think that I am going to go home right away," in the distance I seen Alexis walking with her pink and blue Nike's, not a spec of dirt on them, Foster Barnes and his pack trailing behind her. Mine and Alexis's relationship was as great as Levi and Foster's. They both had this hatred for each other. I didn't know why they hated each other and for the most part Levi didn't know the details of mine and Alexis's feud.

Levi looked around in a sarcastic manner like he could see through my lie. Was I being that transparent?

"How about I drop Alexis off and you tell me where you are really going," he added and then pointing to my full bag of books, my bag had been cool last month. Alexis was approaching fast. She brushed past me and got in the passenger seat like she owned it. In a way she kinda did.

"Come on Rye," Alexis made a puppy dog face. It was gone in an instant and left me to decipher whether she was being genuine or classic Alexis.

"See Alexis wants you to get in too," He offered trying to get in the car.

"We don't bite," Alexis said through the half open window.

"Yeah, but I do," I mumbled as I got into the back seat. Now my sealed fate was listening to how great cheerleading and football is and listening to the worst TOP 40 songs while I died to listen to country. Then watching their hands join in the center console her perfectly manicured pink nails intertwining within his slightly callused working hands and her being all happy about Levi being the best guy she's ever met. No.
