Saturday had been as boring as Friday; at least I wasn't at school. I spent it helping my dad work on the double horse trailer and texting Levi and messaging my new found friend Foster Barnes. Levi informed me that he was going to the country club event that I been invited too as well. He wasn't a member, Alexis and her family were. I didn't want to see them together at all. Thankfully for me Foster had made a small invitation that consisted of him saying that he was going to be there and was looking forward to dancing with me.

Alexis's family was pretty decent for being the richest family in Adamsfield. Her mother was a quiet blonde that like to spend her money and her father was a boisterous man that didn't care if he spoke his mind. He also had a habit of giving unwanted attention to other woman that wasn't his wife.

My dad rolled out from under the horse trailer and told me to hand him a wrench. I handed him the wrench and went back to my phone to see that my message didn't send.

"Listen bud, I'm almost done, you can go get cleaned up for the event," My dad grunted from under the trailer probably noticing my disinterest at the moment and being engulfed into my phone. "Plus your mom will have a fit if we aren't on time you know how she is,"

I showered, curled my hair and pinned it into an updo. I picked one of my more formal dresses for the occasion. I didn't know whether it was a birthday party, a formal dinner, or a charity event. It was a form fitting gold embellished dress, and I paired it with a pair of cowboy boots. I picked the necklace that Levi given to me three Christmas' ago; it was a simple fake gold necklace with a gold paper airplane on the end that said in very small letters, forever. Something I knew he gotten out of the treasure claw machine. I knew my dad would like the ruggedness of my boots with the formal dress; my mom would roll her eyes when I wasn't looking but tell me to get into the car because we were late.

Sure enough I walked down the stairs; my brother dressed in a suit with his hair gelled. My mother dressed in a purple draped dress and my dad in a button up, tie and dress pants. My mom gave me a look as my dad winked at me and escorted me down the last two stairs.

"Alright get in the car we are going to be late!" my mom fussed. When we arrived my dad cut the engine and we all sat there a moment.

"Geena can we leave a little early this time?" My dad asked. He wasn't fond of charity events because they were boring. He would rather fork over a check and leave.

"Van you know how I feel about leaving these events early!" My mom burst out.

"Actually I'm with dad," I added.

"Come on Reese!" my mom opened his door and Reese looked back at me giving me a sympathetic look, either that or he really sympathized himself.

"Levi is going to be here,"

"Oh yeah?" my dad said.

"Yeah and he will be accompanied by his girlfriend Alexis Martin,"

"A Martin? I never figured Levi to go for that kind of girl. I always thought that you and- never mind that," He trailed off, knowing that I would counter his works with the same 'we're just good friends' and 'he has a girlfriend'.

"I'm also going to be seeing a boy here," I offered.

"A boy?"

"Foster Barnes," I acclaimed.

"Hmm, don't think I have ever met him," my father sighed. "I want to though,"

My dad entered the country club with me and gave them our tickets and names. As I looked around I came to realize that it was a charity event. The event was Ginny Gene's Breast Cancer awareness. Ginny was a very emotional, stubborn and loud woman. Her daughter was diagnosed with stage four cancer and died not even a month after her diagnosis. It was a shock to all of the community. The mood was a lot different than I thought a charity event would be I guessed it would be like a funeral, but it wasn't. The band was playing and people looked happy, that was good sign I guessed.
