I was walking down the Brooklyn streets with a quiet pitter patter tapping on my umbrella. Its been 3 days since I've seen Devon and broke down in front of him. I shook my head at the thought, I've never brought my guard down before.

I made my way to the 46 bus stop, there's always like 3 of them when they come and they're normally fast but with rain they're always slow.

Its been almost 20minutes waiting for the bus and I kept tapping my finger against my leg (a habit of mine when I get anxious). "Excuse me Miss" I looked down to meet the eyes of a little girl, she had big blue eyes that instantly drew you in. "Yes" I responded. She kept her eyes still on mine, "Do you know what the time is?" She spoke sweetly. I took out my crappy phone that my grandparents could afford me, when I looked at the time my lips formed into a frown, "8:47" I said grimly. I was 17minutes late for my first period class. "Thank you" she said sweetly walking off into the distance. "Weird" I said to myself.

At that moment the bus came roaring to a stop, "Thank God" I said to myself quietly. I made my way to a single seat and sat there, there was barely any people in the bus and the bus moved quietly matching with the quiet pitter patter of the rain. I soon found my self drowsing off into a slumber.

When I woke up I was at some unknown area that looked almost abandoned. "Shit" I mumbled getting up and being the last person to leave the bus. I was lost and it was now 9:36am, I am so late to school.

I didn't feel worried at all, actually I felt relaxed to finally be alone. I clutched my bag tightly to me, I've lived my whole life in the hood, I know how it is there and there's a chance it can be the same here.

I walked around for the last couple of minutes till I noticed a diner. 'Should I go in?' I thought to myself, 'No in every horror movie they always end up in a creepy diner.' I turned away, 'Who am I to say anything nothing like that happens in Brooklyn.' Before I could think it was too late, I already walked into the diner.

It looked typical, black and white checkerboard design with a stripe of red, the oldest waitress and a jukebox. It looked pretty old if you ask me, I snorted to myself. "Would you like anything to eat dear?" The old waitress called behind me, "Uh no thank you." I responded. "Your all skin and bones, look at you" Before I could respond she was already shouting out an order for me. I held back an ugh taking a seat in one of those single spinny chairs by the counter.

When my plate arrived I was actually ready to dig in realizing I haven't eaten all day till an all too familiar voice boomed from the door. "Sorry that I'm late Melly, but that damn bus took so long and-" Her ramble halted as her eyes came to mine. "Aunt Diane" I said in a hushed tone. Aunt Diane is Nicole's mother who was practically my own mother besides my mom and grandma. "Mia...What are you doing here" she said kind of sternly. "Uh..." I couldn't manage to get my words out, before I knew it she had a tight grip on my arm as we walked away. "Where are you taking me" I said trying to get her to lessen her grip.

"I'm taking you home." she said in a calm voice but I could tell it was full of anger.
