I woke up in a cold sweat panting to catch my breath. This is not the first time this has happened to me. I had another nightmare of that moment, the moment my life was taken away from me-the day I was raped.

Like I always do I push it to the side, that was the past and today I'm living the present. It was only 5am and I still had time before classes and before my grandparents woke up. I jumped into the shower, put on a tracksuit and threw my hair up into a high pony tail.

I rushed out of the smelly apartment building which has always been my home since my mother had me. I started jogging past the graffiti covered walls letting peace invade my mind, this was only time I got to be truly alone and think. I closed my eyes now simply thinking, what if my life was different?

BEEP! I snapped out of my trance placing my hand on my pumping heart gasping for breath."Get out the damn rode!" the drive said speeding off. I shook my head in disbelief. Whats wrong with me? I thought as I jogged back home.

"Morning class" I heard my teacher say as I sped through the hallway, quietly turning the door knob as I walked in hoping to be unnoticed. Mr.Griffin, the english teacher was writing an assignment on the board with his back turned to the class mumbling something about our assignment. He swiftly turned around scanning the room as his glare rested on me. "I see you came to class Ms.Johnson, late as usual. Remember, I see everything." My cheeks redened with embarassment as all the attention was on me. I chose to ignore it as Mr.Griffin began talking again.

"Class I have an assignment for you, but unlike the other assignments this one will be due at the end of the year. You must right a book, a book about your life down to the tiniest detail. It must explain how you ended up in the place you are today, who you are and who you want to become." Mr.Griffin stated. I growled at the thought. I am kept to myself and this assignment is like explaining myself something I never wanted to do.

The rest of the day flew by as usual walking to every class, traveling through the crowded hallways till I saw something uncommon. My cousin Nicole, the only person who can keep me sane, but I haven't seen her since my 17th birthday a few months ago. There was something different about her, as I slightly turned my head to my left I noticed-she was with someone, a male infact. Its shocking because shes never with a guy since her mom is overprotective about it. I must have been staring too long because now I halted in the middle of the hallway as her eyes locked on mine and started to approach me with that wide grin she always has.

"Hey cuz!" she said wrapping her arms around me, "Hey." I whispered still in disbelief. We silently just stared at eachother till she remembered the male standing behind her. She immediately snapped out of her glare introducing the mysterious male, "This is Devon" she said with a smile. "He is an old friend who finally moved back here to New York." she said still grinning. He held out his hand. "Nice to meet you" he said in a deep smooth voice flashing a bright smile. All I could do was knod and shake his hand. He was handsome, so handsome he made my heart melt and my knees wobble like I could just fall to my knees any second. "After school we are going down to Peach's Cafe, would you like to go? Nicole said bringing my attention to her. "Sure." I replied with a small smile.
