The reason Shindou started playing soccer was all because of his first encounter with Kirino.

He was hiding from his many maids and butlers because he was tired of their overprotection. He hid on a bush at a park near his mansion, escaping using the window at the back of his room and just ran. While hiding, a soccer ball was kicked near his bush, as he looked around to see who kicked it, he saw a pink haired boy (at that time Kirino's hair was still short). Kirino approached his ball and Shindou. He asked the brunette if he wants to play or not, and he gladly accepts.

Ever since then, he continued to play soccer.
