Chapter 9: Chase Nakpil

Liam and I plan to finish this construction project in at least a year. That's literally the fastest time I can expect, since construction isn't very quick.

It sucks how Liam is 33, and I'm 23. He can basically date Audrey, but nope he's not interested in Audrey. He's interested in me. And I don't think he's Audrey's type. It sucks because he's gonna look old one day, and I'm still gonna look young. Or, people might think we're just friends or he's my uncle.

I kinda always wanted to know if Liam has ever been in a relationship with someone his own age...

My dad's been dead for a long time. So have Jack and Tristan. They all left these wills behind, you know to see who keeps the inhabited riches left behind. Dad's will was meant for Jack, and Jack's would be for Tristan, and Tristan's was for me. Since the two boys died, I got the shortcut to my riches.

Then, I tend to overthink. Like, does dad have any other children? Or did he just adopt? Did dad ever feel like he wanted to date again? I mean, dad died at 45. He adopted me when he was around 22-23. Something like that. During the years I was growing up, he could've fallen in love.

Marissa's Point of View

Hey guys. Tyler and I are going for a walk in echo park. The setting there is really peaceful, so that's why almost every character in this book goes to echo park. ;)

I really do hope for the best in Jen and Liam, but I wonder where Tyler and I will go. I mean, we've been dating for a long ass time (longer than Jen and JJ have dated, but I don't wanna mention it to her cuz I know she'll get mad). Is he gonna wanna take it to the next level?

If Liam proposes to Jen before Tyler proposes to me, this shit's over. Liam and Jen barely met. I finally have the time to see this guy. Hopefully, these times can knock some sense into him.

"Wanna get food for everybody after?" Tyler suggested.

"Yeah, sure." I tried to act moody to get his attention.

"Cool."

😑😑😑

We passed by this couple that was taking their engagement photos at the park. Lucky asses.

"That's so sweet," he said as he passed the couple.

"It would be more sweet if it happened to some of us..."

Then I thought, who was I kidding? He doesn't even have an effing ring with him.

Oh well, hopefully he's thinking about it.

Tyler's Point of View

I feel like Marissa wants something. Food? Movie tickets? A pet? Tell me, and I'll get it for you.

Her friends (or should I say family) have been very protective of her when they found out who I was. I respect that.

Marissa's Point of View

I can't help to think about Jen and Liam. And, Audrey, whose happiness isn't a man, but a penguin.

It's cute to think that Audrey has a little penguin by her side.

"Tyler," I needed to spill.

"Yes?"

"Do you see a future for us?"

It took him a while to answer.

"Well duh!"

Good enough.

Here's where the weird part happened:

A teenage boy (at least I think he was a teen) pulled me and Tyler aside, and he held us at gunpoint.

"I'm a cop," I said as I showed the dumbass my badge.

"I know you know Jen Nakpil," he said.

"Duh! She's my best friend!"

"Take me to her right now."

"Why? Who the hell are you?"

"I'm Chase Nakpil. Gabriel Nakpil's biological son."

I was stunned. Tyler wasn't really surprised because he doesn't know Jen's life story.

Jen should be home from work by now, so we took him to her. It was believable because he had Mr. Nakpil's brown eyes and same features.

Jen's Point of View

Oh, what a long day at work! (Even though it was a half day).

Liam took me home, and the whole gang was there, except Marissa and Tyler.

"Hey," cherry said as she chopped some oranges.

"Hey."

I saw Audrey and Morgan watching The Golden Girls.

"Hey sluts," that's how I greet them.

They both have the " 👋🏻" waving hand signal. That's a good thing.

Cherry is my stunny. If you don't know what that is, you'll eventually figure out later in this story.

Marissa and Tyler came back with a boy.

"Is that your son?" I joked around.

"Actually, it's Mr. Nakpil's son."

"What do you mean?"

The boy approached me.

"Jen, I'm finally able to meet you. My name is Chase. I'm the son of your biological mom and Mr. Nakpil."

...

Wut.

Omg

...

I knew it

...

"Wait, Mia Antonio is your mom?"

"Yes, she's also your mom." Really bro?

"I know who she is." -_-

"Jen, before you ran away from them, Gabriel and Mia had an affair after Gabriel's wife died."

"Dad had a wife?"

"Yeah, but then she was pregnant with me. She told Carlos, and he was pissed, especially at Gabriel. That's how they became enemies. When I was born, Mia chose Carlos over me. She left me at an orphanage, and a nice lady adopted me.
She eventually died when I was 18, so I moved on and I spent my whole life trying to find dad and you. Then, I learned he was dead, and you're all the family I have left."

I felt so bad.

"Chase, it's nice to meet you."

He smiled, but it wasn't a very happy smile. He was sad. He knows that dad (Nakpil) would accept him because he was a great man.

"Chase, if you wanna come over here, you can stay any time you want."

"Thanks, but I really just wanted to meet my stepsister, since you're the only family I have left."

"You do know what Camille, Mia, and Carlos are still alive, right?"

"I know, but I can't face them knowing my own mother would choose another family."

"I feel you. I hate them too."

Wow. I have a brother, and I know he won't get killed.
