Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Awakening

When I woke up,

I was in the hospital,

My mother sleeping at the edge of the bed,

I remembered what had happened,

tear streaming done my face,

My body shook like it never did before,

I was scared out of my mind.

My mother woke up,

She was crying,

She took me in her arms,

And we cried to our hearts content.

When I got out of the hospital,

I found out we were moving,

Me and mom

The only person I have,

The only one I can trust with all my heart.

We moved to a big city,

I was going to attend a high school there,

I haven't seen kids my age for a long time,

I was scared,

* * * * * *

I was walking to school,

My knees wobbled the whole way there,

I couldn't take it anymore,

I just fell,

People passed by,

No one cared,

Just like that day.

Tears streamed my face,

Long I laid there,

When suddenly a gentle hand touched my shoulder,

"Are you okay?" he asked,

Scared out of my wits,

I stood and ran away,

I ran, and ran,

And ran,

Till my body ached with pain,

I was home again,

I didn't want to go back.

I was safe.
