Chapter 23: Mom's Day Off
So afternoon and at home,
I was in a pretty bad mood.
As I finished making food,
Mom had just come home.
I frowned at how weary she was,
But her smiled never withered.
"How was work today?" I asked
As I directed her towards the table.
"It was very nice dear,"
She said.
When as she settled herself in she asked,
"How was school?"
"It was fine," I said flatly.
Right then, I knew I had worried her.
"It's really nothing Mom," i added with a smile.
She just smiled back.
After finishing her dinner,
And I was preparing to wash the dishes,
She announced how tomorrow would be Sat.
And she didn't need to work,
Also that we should go out.
I was jumping with happiness inside,
We hadn't gone out together for a long time.
**Saturday**
We woke up early to go buy groceries together (I usually went alone).
We had a lot of fun doing so!!
Even if it was deciding on choosing boring fruits and so on,
With Mom, nothing bored me much.
After shopping fir groceries,
We decided to have a picnic at the park,
As tacky as it sounds for a grown girl and her mother to, it was very much enjoyable.
As we set up out stuff,
My mom asked,
"Any boy troubles lately?"
I froze in place.
"No, of course not. Don't tease me!" I smiled.
"Really? Cause you've been looking very distracted lately."
"Yeah, really. I'm just a bit busy...because of exams."
"That's good to know dear,"
(I lied to her for the first time...and I felt horribly guilty now)
But we still enjoyed our picnic,
And I enjoyed every second with her,
At the end of the day,
I could tell my mother was putting up a real smile from the bottom of her heart.
