Finding Angels Wings

Dante'

I sat across from Seth at the square table in the basement, the room was decorated in greens and dark blues. The floor was wooden and there were various wooden chairs, a snooker table, small bar, couches, a tv with some gaming consoles and a white board next to the table we were at. I tapped my fingers against the table and regarded Seth with a raised eyebrow.

“What’s the plan then?” I asked, glancing over at Holden and Axel as they fidgeted slightly. All of us at this table were great friends but it was times like these when we became extremely quiet and room would sort of have a tight, tense feeling to it.

Seth stood up and picked up a white board marker and started scribbling on the board. He turned to us then spoke in his clear baritone voice, “It’s simple really, we don’t exactly want to make ourselves known, not at all but what we do want to do is cause some trouble.” A smirk tugged at my lips as I heard him speak.

“We want to make them uneasy, we stay away from the special forces unit. We’re not ready for them yet, however we take out the guards stationed at city hall. You know how uptight those fuckers are, we take them out, cause some trouble and then we leave. They won’t know it’s us, it’s just a simple little uprising and then we retreat for a while and we start again.”

“Don’t you think that’s a bit risky? I mean what if they find us? Or one of us gets caught or killed? Sure we want to cause some trouble but do our pros outweigh our cons?” Axel spoke up; he was very good when it came to logical thinking, science and anything that required a massive IQ.

Morgan, Seth’s girlfriend spoke, “That’s the reason it’s going to be quick, efficient and only the best fighters will go. It will be Seth, Me, You, Dante plus some of our other fighters. We just want to get their attention and let them know that we are unhappy.” Her voice was clear and ran out like soft bells. Axel just nodded and crossed his arms, a crease forming at his forehead as he spoke.

“Hey, what about me?” asked Holden, clearly offended at what Morgan had to say.

“You can’t be coming with us, you seem to forget that they are looking for you and if they do happen to catch you, you’re toast.” I said, crossing my legs and glancing over at Holden. He didn’t seem very pleased with my answer.

“I can do so much though, you need me to help. Dante and I can scope out the area before the entire thing starts. You guys need us as your eyes.” He made a valid point and I bit my lip in a sort of nervous frustration.

“Look you can be our eyes with Dante but you need to and I mean it, just be our eyes. You can’t be getting involved someone will see you on accident and then it’s dragon kebab. Your glamour cannot protect you forever and we shouldn’t risk it.”

He nodded if not reluctantly now this was where I came in, I helped Seth plan and strategise how we were going to go in, do whatever we needed to do and get out. I got up and went to the whiteboard and began writing.

“So, Morgan you are in charge of finding and getting us some camouflage, some black balaclavas, shoes, the works. Now check this out,” I drew a small diagram on the board, my drawing skills not that fantastic. “Over here right before the quad in front of city hall there is a bunch of trees, now from what I know there is a bunch of guards stationed here to keep people out. Axel and Seth will sneak in along with some of the others guys and take these guards out.” I circled the tiny little stickmen where the trees were.
