She spent the last months running desperately from Death. She didn't want for that tall, lean, fully clothed in a black dress woman to catch her, to take her to her world without return. Whenever she saw Death, the 63 years old woman ran as fast as she could. She did her best to hide wherever she could. The Black Lady knocked several times to her door, but she always locked the door, thinking that in this way Death will never enter. Whenever she noticed her wondering on streets. the woman took refuge in stores or in church, waiting for Death to leave her alone. Whenever the Mistress of all Endings screamed after her, the women covered her ears, not allowing her heart to fall under the weight of the fear created by Death's voice.
The Dark Queen still continued to follow her, sparing not even a moment to let the poor woman catch her breathe, and one day she was right in front of her, and the old woman let out a sharp scream, her shivering hand tightening against her chest where her heart was, and took a few steps behind, with Death advancing towards her.
All of sudden, a young and handsome man, clothed completely in an elegant and white suit, and displaying a charming and insurer smile, came around a corner, interposing quickly between Death and her victim and looked into her eyes with a great, inuman courage. Death began to shake her head violently, and her eyes grow big with an indecipherable horror and to her victim's amazement she herself stepped a few steps behind, preparing to flee. And before she disappears, she addresses few last words to the victim who barely escaped her:
"-You should have come with me, you shouldn't be afraid to follow your natural course of life because ..." the Dark Queen didn't dared to look at the mysterious man in white "... some things are much worse than me ..." she quickly flee, absolute terrified. The old woman wanted to thank to the man who frightened the Death but what she saw in his eyes, those eyes of a profound darkness, just like the darkness from a world where Death has no power, made her swallow every word.
"-I hate when the little ones stick their noses into my business", said the man while the woman looked like she just had a heart attack, an attack who didn't kill her. Because Death was not there to help her.
