Chapter 5

"Sir she needs to go in for a check up. You can wait out here" the doctor says pointing to the waiting room.

I go to the waiting room and sit in the hard plastic chair. I take out my phone and text Matt, Mike and Ian.

I put my phone down and let me head drop into my hands. I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I just hope Katie is okay. The tears begin to fall. I try to cry as quietly as possible.

"Sir, are you with Katie Kent?" A nurse asks me.

"Yes , I she okay?!" I reply.

"Follow me" the nurse says while walking away.

I follow a few steps behind trying to prepare myself.

We get to room #14. The nurse opens the door and lets me go in. She's closes it behind me.

I stare at the closed door for a few seconds trying to brace myself.

I turn around and face the bed. Katie is lying there lifeless. She is as pale as a ghost her hair is messy.

I pull up a chair beside the bed and hold her hand. She's in a coma. She's in a coma because of me.

I begin to cry again. How could I have let this happen to her? It's all my fault. I lean my head down towards the floor. My tears start to get Katie's hospital bedding wet.

I begin to sing beside you still holding Katie's hand.

I love you babe. Even thought you probably can't hear me saying this. I promise one day you'll be Katilyn Marie Ramsay. I honestly don't know what I would do without you. I hear clapping behind me. I turn around and see the nurses behind me with tears in their eyes.

Suddenly Katie squeezes my hand.

"SHE MOVED!!!" I yell.

"SHE SQUEEZED MY HAND!!!" I yell even louder.

She's starting to come put of the coma!

"We'll be back in to check on her later." The nurses say.

"Baby.." Katie whispers.

"I-I " Katie stutters.

"You what baby?" I ask while crawling on her bed and laying beside her.

"I-I heard what you said" Katie says while breaking down into tears.

I wrap my arms around her and pull her close.

"D-did you mean it?" She sobs out.

"Ever word" I reply.

Katie rolls over to face me.

"Josh. " She says softly.

I lean in closer to her.

"I love you too" She says with tears in her eyes.

I cup her chin with my hand and start kissing her.
