Thinking with your Heart

Let me tell you a story.

This one will be sad.

But its not scary or gory.

So for that you should be glad.

Its about human.

One like you and me.

Living in a deep dark den.

At the bottom of the sea.

This human has no head.

But they have plenty of time that's free.

This human as no heart,

and both are locked away with a key.

The den is very dark.

The den is very cold.

It has left a shaded mark

that has grown very old.

This human wants out.

This human is a she.

But she has no lips to pout.

Its where she'll always be.

She hates everything there.

She hates being alone.

But she has no need for air.

And ugly goes to the bone.

But one day she gets a visit

From a mute, young man.

If she could speak it

She'd say "here I am!"

The mute man sees the woman

but is at a loss for words.

But if she knew that there was a man

his words wouldn't be heard.

But you see to anyone outside

or any one who can see,

the key is simple to find

for her to be set free.

And so the man found it.

Also he found two doors

between them on the wall was writ:

'Only one may leave this den, the others must parish in gore.'

This scared the young man.

He didn't have a clue.

He looked at the keys in his hand.

Trying to figure out what to do.

So there he had a choice.

It was his fate choose.

Either give her a head and a voice

or the heart she had to lose.

He studied both doors with close precision.

A few tears he shed

But he made a decision.

He unlocked the door for her brain.

He guided her to take it.

And was proud of the decision he made.

But he would soon wish he'd use his wit.

But only one would leave that day.

Soon she opened her eyes

How much brighter the world seemed.

But before he even had time to cry

She stabbed the keys clean in his eyes.

She remembered the rules.

She remembered her past.

She knew what to do

on the day of her last.

The den needed its human.

It needs a soul.

So killing him was much easier then.

Now that she isn't whole.

So there it had ended.

Of at least the mute man.

His life could've been mended.

But the den had other plans.

For the next nice visitor.

Who was sympathetic and kind.

To not think this human will need a heart.

But to assume they are better off with a mind.

With a head comes logic, but dark thoughts.

With a heart comes emotion and being selflessly kind,

to take there own life instead

of what could've been mine.

But its your choice.

Where you end up.

Is it better to have a voice?

Or give someone else your luck?
