Caged

Look at me judging.

Now look at me

Treat me loving.

Never set me free.

Hold my heart.

While I have yours.

Mend my broken parts,

kiss my soft sores.

This isn't prison.

There are no bars.

This was my decision.

Never leave my cage ajar.

Lock me away.

Keep me near.

With you I will stay.

Protect me from fear.

Hold me close,

and far from others.

Nowadays nobody knows

my face was on the cover.

At first on the news.

Second, the newspaper.

They ran out of clues.

And "No one can save her."

But with me that's just fine.

Now I don't mind.

Dark hair that shines,

a handsome face, and kind.

He is my all.

He is my life.

Long and tall,

He is my light.

No sun shines here.

Not in our home.

Where we live I'm not clear,

and I'm mostly alone.

I still love him.

Kindness is all I see.

Except when he breaks off a stem

and beats the hell out of me.

But I don't think he means it.

He is nothing but sweet.

Except the time he hit

me with the knife we use to eat.

He gets a little grumpy.

But so what? No need to sue.

Only when he's really jumpy

does he threaten to get the noose.

But I will always love him.

and he loves me.

Though on the days that are grim.

I tend to cry a sea.

But I don't want to go home.

Without him I have nothing.

I never want him to be alone.

With me he has something.

Its been years since he found me.

Walking home alone one night.

It was too dark to see

and he gave me quite the fright.

He took me home to my cage.

At first I was mad.

At first I was in a rage.

But the truth was, I wasn't really that sad.

Now we are engaged!

As we were meant to be.

I will always be in my cage,

Just him, myself, and misery.

the end.
