Even though mystery-hunting didn't work out, Mabel still had a few ideas to jog Dipper's memories while they hung out in their room together. Teaching him a little song was the first on her list.
"Repeat after me!" Mabel instructed Dipper, and inhaled deeply. "Well..... Who wants a Lamby Lamby Lamby...?" The karaoke girl within sang out in the twelve year old. It sure felt good to be in tune!
"Well, who wants a Ramby, Rambu, Rombu..." Dipper tried timidly, speaking the words instead. "...What?"
Mabel smiled. What a Goof-ball! She thought. "No, you have to sing it like I did," she corrected him, "And it's also Lamby, Lamby, Lamby, not Ramby, Rambu, Rombu."
Dipper sulked. "Oh."
"Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed of Brobro!" The sweater-girl patted her twin on the back. "Here, try again. Well... Who wants a Lamby, Lamby, Lamby..?"
Dipper took a deep breath. "Well, who wants a Lamby, Lamby, Lamby?" The awkward preteen was almost so off pitch that it hurt Mabel's ears, but she didn't care.
"Good! I do! I do!" Mabel sang the second verse. "It's your turn to try again!"
"Good! I do! I do!"
Mabel giggled. "No, no, no. You're supposed to repeat everything I sing, not say. Try it again, and I'll help you if you need it."
"I do! I do!" Dipper tried again. I'll work on his pitch later, Mabel wrote herself a mental note.
"Awesome! So, go up and greet your mammy, mammy, mammy. Hi there! Hi there!"
"So, go up and greet your mammy, mammy, mammy. Hi there! Hi there!"
Mabel gave her twin a reassuring thumbs-up. "We're almost there, you're doing a good job!" She encouraged him. "So march, march, march around the daisies..."
"....Don't, don't, don't you forget about the ba-by...!" Dipper smiled, and winked at her.
Mabel couldn't believe it. He just recited the last verse! Her thoughts screamed with joy. I can't believe this!! Maybe this is actually working!
Tears almost escaping her eyes, Mabel reached out and squeezed your amnesiac twin. "You.... You remembered the end of the song!" She told him, and could almost feel Dipper growing warm with anticipation and confidence.
"I did?"
"You did! You're starting to remember again, Dipper."
Dipper's warm glow lessened. "But that was the only thing I remembered, and it's still fuzzy too-"
"Shh." Mabel shushed him. "Don't start unbelieving! You gotta imaginize it!"
Dipper gave her a confused look, but replied, "Okay."
*****
It was growing dark outside, and Dipper felt exhausted. Mabel had exercised his brain almost all day, and he finally decided to call it a night and snuggle into his warm bed. Dipper's eyes drooped, and they snapped open suddenly to a loud knock at the sibling's door.
"Mabel! Hi!" A gruff male voice boomed from the other side of the door.
Another voice. "Candy brought Teen Boy Magazines!!!" A voice that came from what sounded like a much smaller girl with a foreign accent.
