Chapter 2 - Call it home

I wake up to the sound of Macy laughing. I look to see what she's laughing at. "So stupid!" She laughs at her phone. She looks over to me. "I thought you were dead."
"What time is it?" I ask getting up from the floor.
"Two forty-five."
"WHAT?" I look around the living room and see new couches and a tv hung up against the wall.

"We got new furniture and our beds and other stuff came from the moving truck. We did grocery shopping. We went shopping for the bathroom, living room and kitchen. We're going shopping for clothes and our rooms when dad comes back. He'll be back in like 5 minutes."

"Did you go to the circus while I was sleeping?" I joke.
Why didn't she just put me on the couch instead of having me on the floor, aching my back? I get up and sit on the couch. I put a pillow behind my back to ease the pain.

"Why would you guys do all this stuff without me? It's my house to you know."

"We didn't want to wake you."

"I wouldn't have cared. I wanted to do that stuff."

She clicks her phone off and puts it on our new coffee table. "Well would you like us to return everything and buy it all back for you?" I roll my eyes at her remark.
"So what food did you buy?"
"We mainly got snacks for the house. Chips, cookies, pretzels, popcorn, graham crackers, those kind of stuff."
She pauses for a moments. She then turns to look at me.

"Can I ask you a question?" She looks down at her hands, as if she's embarrassed at what she's gonna say.

"Yeah, sure?"

"Do you think dad would let me get a snapchat? I already have Facebook but I don't use that. I have Instagram, and I don't want to go to school being a total loser being the only eight grader without a snapchat."

I laugh at her which makes her raise an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry." I stop laughing.

"But Macy, not everyone has a phone in middle school, and if they do, they probably don't even have social media. You won't be a total loser." I smile at her. "Yes, I do think that dad would let you but how about you wait. Just wait and see until Thursday."

"Why Thursday?"
"That's when we start school. Next Thursday."
"We can't start on Monday? I have to wait a whole week. Do you think anyone knows that we're coming?"

"Most likely. The principals of the school tells the teachers, the teachers tell the students and they're usually excited have new people."

"I just want to fit in with everybody. With only a few months left, I'm pretty sure no ones gonna care about a new student."

"Everything will be just fine for you. Don't worry!" I lean over to pat her back and she smiles.

"Are you not scared?" She asks me.
"Honestly, I'm terrified."
"But why are you do you see so calm?"
"Because , I know everything will be ok in the end."
"But what if people find out about something, something about you?"
She asks as if I know what she's talking about. But then I do.

My junior year, something happened. Which pushed me to be better at the next schools. I had dad make us move that year. I couldn't stand that school, just because of everything that went on. Macy was the only person that I told about that, and I completely forgotten all about it. I did my best to forget it, and I eventually did. I did until now.
She reminded me of how bad and helpless I was.
I feel a lump in my throat. That thing I did, that can ruin my stature forever and give me a bad name.
