Macy's POV

I told Luke I was feeling sick and that was the reason I wouldn't be at school. I hated lying to him but I couldn't tell him the truth.

"Babe, let me skip with you. We can watch movies all day." He said into the phone at 7:15 this morning. He should almost be at school.

"I'm fine. I promise. I just wanna relax okay?" I say into the phone, trying my best to convince this stubborn head.

"Okay, but I'll stop by at around two. My last class ends at 1:30. I'll about to be at school so I'll let you go back to sleep. I love you." He says into the phone.

"Okay babe, love you too." I say, ending the call. Emerson's going to be here around 7:30 to take me to the doctors appointment.

I quickly slip into some leggings. I put on Luke's black hoodie and my tennis shoes. I throw my hair in a bun and start walking downstairs to wait on the couch for Em to show up.

Her knock wakes me up from where I had dozed off on the couch. I grab my wristlet and walk to the front door.

"Good morning sunshine." She says peppy. She's dressed in skinny jeans, a nice top with nude flats. Her caramel colored hair is curly with a French braid pulling her bangs back.

"Morning." I say, shutting the door and walking towards her car. "Why are you so dressed up?"

"I don't have a reason. Can't a girl get dressed up for the hell of it?" She asks, smiling and twirling around.

I open the car door and get inside. She gets in right behind me and starts the car.

"True. I just feel nervous about the doctors appointment. Like what if I lost it?" I mumble and buckle my seat belt.

"You won't lose it, and even if you did, it'll be okay. Luke won't be mad at you, it's not your fault." She says, putting on her RayBans and taking a left, leading us towards downtown.

I sigh, nodding and look out the window. All the buildings downtown are older and super pretty. It's like once you pass into downtown, you go back in time.

"Did you hear me?"

"What?" I say, looking over to Emerson.

"I asked what you told Luke?" She says.

"Oh. I said I wasn't feeling well and he said that he'll see me at 2 this afternoon." I say, playing with the string coming off the seatbelt.

"I mean it's true. You do feel bad but not for the reason he's probably thinking." She says turning the radio up. The Eden Project starts playing and Emerson starts singing along.

After about 10 minutes we finally pull into the parking lot. Emerson kills the car and looks over to me.

"You ready?" She asks me, pushing the sunglasses off her face. I nod and open the car door.

We both get out and start walking towards the doors.

"Look, I don't really have any advice to give you because this is pretty damn serious. I mean this is life or death. But the most important thing is that Luke will still love you regardless. I'll still love you," she smiles and bumps hips with me, "and you're friends will always be here. I mean you're still young and if it doesn't go as planned, you still have time." She says.

I open the door and smile. "Thanks Em."

"You're welcome skanklet. Now, let's go get your doctor forms." She says, walking towards the front desk.

I wipe my hands on my leggings and walk up to the front desk, "Hi, my names Macy Morris and I'm here for an appointment with Doctor Gunn."

The lady at the front desk looks at me and raises an eyebrow, "Shouldn't your mom be with you? You look about 16."
