"Wirt, are you okay?" I heard a familiar voice say. I saw her, Sarah. She was there with me.

"Can you see me Wirt?"

I grunted. "Where am I?"

"The hospital." she said, in a 'dude-you-should-know-this' kind of way.

"A hospital?" I asked groggily. Suddenly I remembered. I shot up, "Greg, where's Greg?!?"

I looked over to a crowd of people. In the midst of all of them, my brother was standing and talking excitedly (so nothing was different).

"And then-Wirt! I was telling them about the time we almost got-" his frog croaked, interrupting him. "Hehehe, yeah, and you were there too, Jason Funderberker."

Jason was there too? "Me?" He said in that horrible annoying voice of his, his normal voice.

"No! Jason Funderberker, my frog!" Jason croaked accordingly.

I chuckled at this, partially of relief knowing that Greg was alright.

"Heh, our frog." I said.

"Our frog," Greg agreed.

"Our frog?" Jason questioned.

"No, not your  frog!" Greg said.

I smiled. Once the moment was over, Sarah requested my attention.

"Hey um..." She pulled out a mixtape. I recognized that mixtape. That mixtape had embarrassing poetry voiced by me on it. That was my confession tape. I wanted that back as soon as possible to prevent embarrassing myself in front of Sarah.

"About this...?"

"Yeaaaahhhh..."

"Uh, so, I don't have a tape player."

I was internally facepalming.

"Sooo..."

"Uh, Yeah..."

"So, maybe we can listen to this-"

"You can listen to it at my house. Yes."

Sarah smiled at this. I thought it over again.

"Ehhhh may-maybe we should listen to some other tapes first though, and sort of work our way to this one."

Sarah looked confused.

"This one's a little bit, uh..I mean, y-you can listen to it, I'm just saying...."

She smiled again and chuckled a bit. Shrugging, Sarah handed me the mixtape.

"Heh, whatever you say Wirt."

We talked for a little while longer, and eventually everyone had to leave to give Greg and I our rest. I still couldn't believe that we had almost drowned after jumping over that wall. And what had happened in between the time we fell in until now? Was all of that real? I looked over at Greg's bed, contemplating what had happened, my encounter with the beast, all of that. But Greg wasn't there. I sat up, scanning for him, but I saw nothing. Suddenly, as I was starting to panic, he peeked up from the side of my bed.

I sighed, "Greg you almost gave me a heart attack."

He just giggled and said, "Good night Wirt!" and crawled back to his bed.

I layed back down and smiled. Thing would be looking up from here. I guess, after almost dying, I appreciated life a little more. Slowly, I dozed off into peaceful dreams of my girlfriend question mark? She was talking to me, at least. And so I slept.

A week later, we were discharged from the hospital. There was no brain damage and we were okay. My first day back at school, everyone was talking to me. I guess almost dying also makes you super popular. I didn't really want everyone to talk to me though. I kind of just wanted to talk to Sarah. I just wanted to be with her. My wishes were not fulfilled that day. I can't say nothing good happened that day though, there was one thing: I met the Pines twins.
