Chapter 11

When I finally wake, I feel like I'm dead.

Obviously I'm not, since I can feel the pain still, even if it is muted somewhat. It takes a while for me to block it out and take in my surroundings.

I'm back in a prison cell of some sort, completely empty except for me in it. It's dark gray. I'm lying on the cold floor. No surprises there. The real surprise is that I'm not dead.

I force myself into a sitting position, and finally realize that my hands are handcuffed with some sort of metal that I can't sense through the force. I try to reach out my force sense, and realize that I can't sense anything through the force.

"It's temporary, don't panic."

Surprised, I glance up- and come face to face with my father.

I scowl. "You're supposed to be dead."

"No, you are." He says, folding his arms. "It took a full day just to completely heal you. It took another for you to wake up."

"What did you do to me?" I groan, still unable to sense anything through the force. "Something's wrong.."

"Just a little something to cover your force abilities for a while." He holds up a bottle full of red liquid, with an injector needle at the bottom. "Enough of this stuff with knock out your ability to control the force, but too much at one time will completely destroy that power forever. I know how much you rely on the force."

(It's Tilah. I wonder if you picked up on that hint.)

I try to stand up, but my legs are too weak. I fall back onto the floor, feeling faint. "What.. do you want?" I say, trying to ignore how weak I feel. If it comes down to a fight, I will lose.

"I've been waiting to talk to you for quite some time now. Willingly join the Dark Side, Tilah. It's so much easier that way. The other methods are not so...forgiving."

"Other methods?"

He nods. "There are plenty of ways to break someone."

A chill ran through me. I didn't need the force to tell me that he really meant it.

"What happened to you? The father I knew would never do this! What did they do?"

He glances away from me briefly, like he's slightly ashamed. "That's not important. You have at least a few more hours until the others come. I suggest that you try to get some rest until then. You'll need whatever energy you can get."

And with that, he walks out the door and it locks behind him, leaving me entirely alone.

Meanwhile....

Ezra didn't want to talk to anyone.

When he fell in love with Tilah, he didn't know what to expect. When he found out that she felt the same way about him, it should have been the happiest day of his life.

But then she was murdered right in front of his eyes. The Inquisitor just had to stab her once to end her life forever. It was horrible to watch. Even in death, she wanted then to keep running.

Ezra had spent the past 2 days trying to find her through the force, in case she had survived somehow. But every time he tried, nothing happened.

He had to face the facts.

Tilah was dead. She was never coming back.

Tilah's P.O.V

After an hour, the door opens again.

Since I still haven't found the strength to stand, I sit on the floor, and I look up.

This time, the Inquisitor and some old man I have never seen before enter the room. He's wearing a uniform of some sort, so I can tell that he has some sort of role in the Empire. Which makes him my enemy.

"Oh my gosh, why can't you guys just go away?" I groan, leaning against the wall. It's one thing to be on the run from them, it's another to be pestered by them every hour.

They react like I haven't said anything, and the old guy introduces himself. "I am Grand Moff Tarkin." He says, studying me.

"And I lost interest in this conversation." I say.

"I would be careful on how you reply." The Inquisitor says, his hand inching back to his lightsaber. After that, I feel a bit more worried. It's much easier to fight the Empire when I have the force on my side. "Anyway, we're going to conduct some tests."

"I'll just tell you now, I was never good at math." I shrug. "It was my worst subject in school."

The Inquisitor smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes. He walks over to me and grabs my arm, forcing me to stand. My legs shake, threatening to collapse.

"Let's go." He says, pushing me forward.

"Alright, alright.." I mutter, taking one shaky step at a time.

It was going to be a long day.
