Hidden Powers (fanfic based on fairytail)

Pool Party || Chapter 2

Aimee's pov:
   I stroll into the lunch room, my eyes scanning the crowd of hungry teenagers, for my best friend, Kayla.

   I sigh, deciding I'd start standing in line and save a spot for her, seeing the long line of losers hanging around for the crap lunch food.  Eww looks like crappily put-together grilled cheese..

   I make a mental note to grab some, knowing how much Kayla enjoyed grilled cheese.

   By the time I had finally gotten to the front of the line, Kayla had arrived, along with Natsu and Sting.

  We all grabbed trays and managed to get a platter full of food, Natsu more than anyone else.. That boy can eat!

  Erza and Laxus waved us over to a table in the back of the cafeteria, and my face immediately started burning up.

   "Is it getting hot in here or is it just the tension between you two?" Natsu laughs, setting a seat between Kayla and I, shooting a quick look at Laxus.

  I opened my mouth to start up conversation with Laxus, but closed it as I saw him leaning into my older, prettier sister, Erza.

  I always knew she was better then I was, but I always thought that Laxus was the only exception. She knew how I felt about him, every since I first started hanging out with Kayla in the first grade.

  He was always there.. As if he was a brother, just as Kayla was my sister.

  But through these years he's never paid much attention to me, as more of my sister.

  Although all these boys would swoon over Erza, she'd never look twice at any of them, not even Laxus.. He was always more of her best friend. Ever since Kayla and I started becoming inseparable friends, they grew close as well. And I'd be lying if I I'd said I wasn't hurt a little.

  Because as hard as I tried, I was never the one. I grew up around everyone loving my sister, never looking twice at me.. And I tried so hard. But I was never the one.

But whatever. I'm over it. My best friends brother probably isn't the best way to go. Although, it was clear she had figured out my little crush a long time ago. But she'd always act as if she had no idea, which was one thing I appreciated about her.

  "What's on your mind?" Kayla asks, grabbing a half of my grilled cheese sandwich off of my plate and taking a huge bite.

  "Whadya mean?" I answer back innocently, pretending I had no clue about the fact she could just about read my mind.

  "You always start glaring into space when you're thinking reaaaal hard. So don't pretend you weren't." She says, rolling her eyes and plopping a grape into her mouth.

  "I'll tell you later." I shut her out, I didn't want to talk about it around a table full of people.

   She nods, understanding and shifts her focus onto her food again "At least eat something you skinny hoe."

  I laugh and steal one of her grapes "you're one to talk, brat."

   "Hey guys! Are you down to go swimming tonight?" Laxus asks.

  "I think I'm free" I say smiling.

  "You're always free, you have no life" Erza laughs, Kayla smacking her a high five.
