It wasn't long before Clockworks eyes fluttered open. She wasn't at home and she definitely wasn't dead, although the blinding light that immediately came into view startled her slightly. She pulled herself into a sitting position awkwardly before feeling a hard push to her chest, causing her to fall back into the soft bed. She suddenly felt a shooting pain in her shoulder.
"Stay still" a soft voice spoke, it was muffled as if fabric had covered the lips to which the noise escaped. Clockwork obeyed but glanced in the voices direction.
A lady with lengthy reddish-brown hair and greyish tinted skin sat still apart from the constant moving of her arm as she sewed the wound on Clockworks shoulder shut. The lady wore a black nurses uniform and a black mask covered her mouth and nose. She looked extremely sinister yet appealing in a strange way.
"Does it hurt?" She asked, trying to make conversation with the young girl.
"No." She lied. The nurse laughed slightly seeing right though her lie.
"My name is Ann. Don't forget it." Ann stated.
"So you're the nurse I suppose." Clockwork added
"Precisely, the nurse Ann." She laughed again. It was a sweet sound, not annoying or irritating like most people that Clockwork knew.
Clockwork laughed slightly, it wasn't loud and it was a hard laugh, not soft like she was used too. Ann soon finished the stitches and broke them off. She ran a disinfectant wipe over the area to prevent infection and cleaned up her supplies.
"I'll send someone up with food and water in a few minutes. You won't be leaving this bed until you're healed." Ann stated as she took the tray into her hands and walked to the door, opening it successfully without spilling anything.
The door creaked as it swung closed behind Ann and Clockwork was alone. She laid back and sighed greatly. She scanned the room around her with her eye. It had charcoal walls and a grey carpet. A wardrobe and Dresser stood in a small area perfectly cut out in the wall that could just about fit them both. A night stand stood at either side of the bed but over all the room was practically empty.
The door creaked and Clockworks eye shot over to see a figure standing in the door frame. It was small and held a tray containing bread and water.
"I'm sorry to disturb you but Ann told me to bring this up to you" the small figure explained before stepping into the light. It was a young girl in a pink nightgown and knee high stockings. The name Sally was stitched into the mud coated, torn dress. The most disturbing thing to clockwork was the blood stains on her pale face, making her vivid green eyes stand out. Sally walked towards her and placed the tray onto the nightstand, grabbing a small table that would be used for breakfast in bed, and placed it onto the bed over Clockwork.
"Thank you.." Clockwork thanked as the girl ran off.
