She didn't know how long it took but Clockwork had finally fallen asleep with the small bundle of child beside her.
She was quite rudely awoken by a knocking on her door. It was a light knock, one that didn't seem like it could wake someone up yet she was awake and alert. She moved gently out of the bed as to not wake up the sleeping girl. She couldn't feel the coldness of the boarded floor beneath her stocking covered feet but could estimate how cold it was. She pulled her greenish jacket on over her short sleeved shirt which she slept in. Her legs were partially covered with shorts which clung to her pale, bruised and cut legs. She slid towards the door, her hair a mess upon her head, and yanked it open to none other than the greyish skinned boy who was known as Toby.
"Dude do you even know what time it is?" She asked as she scanned over his figure. He wasn't wearing his mask not goggles but rather was wearing a black shirt and grey sweatpants, white socks cladding his feet as he took her pale, freckled hand in his and dragged her into the corridor without muttering a word, closing the door behind her.
"What the hell are you going?" She whispered as she followed him down the hallway. His brown hair sat messily on his head and he looked as if he was in a hurry somewhere.
"Just follow me, I have to show you something" He gripped her hand tightly as he made his way to the back door, pushing it open and stepping out onto the deck.
The cold air rushed at Clockwork and Toby in a large gush, causing Clockwork to shiver slightly and pull her jacket tighter to herself.
In the mean time Toby had found a way onto the roof, quite easily, by using the fire escape, clockwork had followed quickly behind him. They both knew if they got caught they'll get in trouble so they worked quickly.
Toby was about two steps ahead of her, his fingers barely intertwined with hers as he rushed forward, dragging her behind him.

Eventually reaching the roof of the tall building, both were out of breath. It was cold yet surprisingly not cloudy out and clockwork had just noticed how bright the stars in the deep navy sky. They both took a seat on the tiled roof beside each other and clockwork looked into the sky, mesmerised by the beauty of it. Toby however had found something more beautiful to look at. A train of thoughts endlessly ran through his mind and for once the small voices had stopped whispering to him. Everything was still and silent and truly beautiful. And it was broken to quickly.

A gun shot sounded, a chainsaw roared to life and a scream was deafening them.
