Gathering myself, I turned to Kyo, delivering swift commands. "Scour the area, check to see if there are any members of my pack still out there. If there is a vampire, kill it swiftly. I don't need to make a scene. That'll be saved for later."

I sat down next to Stark, his hand rested on my inner thigh, his thumb stroking the fabric of my jeans.

"Breathe." he muttered, his lips ghosting over my temple. "Just breathe."

I shook my head, a pang of lonely sadness sharp in my heart. "I can't- I hate him, Stark. He's hurt you- he's hurt Rosalie and my pack. He's hurt my brother. This is all Orion's doing. If only I could- if I could just get him in my grasp." Pure, unadulterated fury boiled within me. "I'd annihilate him. That son of a bitch."

"Okay let's get our plan ready." Iris sat down on the edge of the bed beside me but I immediately stood up.

"I can't- I can't be in this room. We'll talk in the hallway."

Pushing the painful, framed memories of Mikhail and I when we were kids, all of which were hung up on the blood-splattered wall, I opened up room for discussion.

"I think we should escort your pack out through Donovan's men. That's the best solution that I can see."

Everyone blinked at the amount of words coming from Jazz at once. It was rare that he spoke- and if so, he kept the words to a minimum.

Draver cupped his jaw, his fingers bumping over his 5 o'clock shadow. "I don't see any issues with that."

Lorena crossed her arms under her chest. "I have a better idea- we do what we did with Donovan, have the Alpha sign over the territory under the jurisdiction of the mayor. The vampires can't enter if it's under a human's name."

"That doesn't work." I scowled, "The mayor is a werewolf...and Mikhail is a Hybrid now. He has no control over himself. Escorting my pack seems like the safest bet. I won't have them sitting there like ducks just waiting to be plucked off one by one."

Alric shook his head, dragging a stressed hand down his face. "That still doesn't work out- Donovan only sent under a dozen of his fighters here- that's not nearly enough to take you entire pack to a safe house. The only state we known as of now with a human mayor is New York and it's too far for regular werewolves to make the trip without encountering vampires, much less being without food and water. Police and pedestrian sightings are bound to happen if they see such a mass of wolves migrating and the vampires will find us in an instant."

I cut him off before he went out. "Okay, alright I get it. Then at least take the children and the elderly out."

Castor grimaced. "It's still too many."

Stark's jaw flexed. "Then take the children. End of story. Now what about-" he suddenly jerked to stop, his nose twitching. His pupils engulfed his mismatched irises and he lunged over the railing, dropping to the kitchen floor as he approached the front door, slightly ajar.

I then received the stench, past the rotten smell of Rosalie's skinned body and the dried blood on the walls. My wolf recognized the scent of Kyo, but it was paired with familiar scent that I just couldn't pick up through the thick odor of blood.

I ran down the stairs just as Kyo stumbled past the door, blood bubbling past his lips. "They're here." he coughed, specks of blood landing on the floor. We sat him down on the bar stool.

Iris covered her mouth in horror. "You're hand..."

It was gone, torn off clean with the bone still sticking out. Kyo hardly seemed concerned. "Have no wrinkle between your brow, Lycan. This is the least of my worries. I'm afraid I might have a punctured lung."
