"I spy something green."

"The grass."

"Nope."

"That tree?"

"Nope."

"That sign?"

"No."

"Ashton this is stupid. What is it?"

"You have to guess."

"Just tell me."

Laughing to himself, Ashton glanced over at me before pointing to his tooth, "You have lettuce in your teeth."

Horrified, I reached up and covered my mouth with my hand.

"Why are you trying to hide it?" He laughed, "I already saw it."

"How long has it been there?" I demanded, pulling down the visor, flipping open the mirror, and grimacing into it.

"Since yesterday." He answered matter-of-factly.

"And you didn't tell me?"

"I just did."

"Twenty-four hours later!"

"Twenty-two we ate at eight last night and it's only six."

"Oh my God." I breathed, picking at the large hunk of lettuce dwelling between my two front teeth, "I smiled at that cute guy at the gas station!"

"So what, you'll never see him again."

"How do you know?"

"Do you plan on moving to Kansas?"

"I don't know!"

"It's really not that big of a deal." Ashton chuckled, removing a toothpick out of his pocket and handing it to me.

"Have you used this?" I demanded.

Rolling his eyes, he shoved it back in his pocket.

"I need a tooth brush."

"We'll buy one at the motel."

"We're staying in a motel?"

"Is that a problem?"

"Yes it's a problem! Haven't you ever heard of bates motel!"

"We'll stay somewhere nicer when we get where we're going."

"Where are we going?"

Glancing over at me, Ashton smirked.

"Why can't you just tell me where we're going?" I demanded.

Glancing back at Sam who was asleep in the backseat, in the rearview mirror, Ashton smiled, "I don't want you telling anyone."

"I wouldn't do that."

"I don't think you would. But I know you won't if you don't know."

Frowning, I flipped up the visor and rested my sock covered feet on the dashboard.

"Dort and I went on a road trip once." He informed me, "She sat like that."

Hastily, I lowered my feet.

Shaking his head, he reached into the bag of licorice in the center console between us and putting one end in his mouth, pulled with his hand, ripping it in half.

One half still in his mouth, he held the other out to me.

"No thanks." I muttered.

"Come on." He coaxed.
