He patted me on the back with a strong hand. "Way to go, Losér!"

I groaned in my head. I had always hated my superhero name. The accent certainly didn't make it any less degrading.

I slowly arched out of his bubble and gave an unexceptional reply in return, "Yeah... no problem, boss."

"I mean, would've done something a little different, had I been there... But your approach was average. For a sidekick, anyway."

There it is.

His deep, mediocre voice didn't sting me as much as it used to whenever he handed out a backhanded compliment. I guess you just get used to it after a while.

"Yeah, well, no one is as good of a superhero as you, Electra-Man."

With a clenched jaw, I walked away from him and to the lounge area of our Superhero Headquarters. I didn't desire to talk to him. I never did, really, but I certainly didn't want to continue the conversation we were having then.

"Losér, remember I'm leaving for Bronxville in an hour, you still think you can handle the lair without me?"

"Yes, boss."

If my plan works, Electra-Man won't know what hit him...

"AH, SOMEONE SAVE ME!" The woman shouted. Directly in my ear, I might add.

I covered her mouth. "Calm the hell down, lady, I won't hurt you if you comply..."

She bit the inside of my hand. "Ow!" I dropped her. "Jesus, woman!" Barreling towards the ground, I decided to go against the evil inside of me and save her from the impact. I commanded one of Electra-Man's several golden hover-boards to fly under her and catch her. It did, and she was still freaking the hell out.

"If Electra-Man were here-!"

I couldn't help myself; I zapped her with a jolt of electricity. She wasn't dead, just unconscious... for the time being.

The suit is fitting me quite well... I could get used to this.

Many other pedestrians were running around in an unorganized fashion; yes, they were as panicky as I had ever seen them in my twenty-three years on earth.

It felt good to know I had caused the stir.

I couldn't believe I went all that time without ever trying Electra-Man's suit on. I never knew that's what contained his powers... I simply thought it was the man himself.

What a great feeling! A zap here, a zap there, everywhere a zap, zap!

I laughed from giddy. "What fun!"

"MY BABY!"

"Yes, I'm sure your child is enjoying my spectacle, as well!" I shouted back at the woman, a smile decorating my glowing face.

I hope Electra-Man is enjoying Bronxville, because here in Las Caras I'm having the grandest time!

"Losér, you're in trouble now!"

My eyes widened.

I'd know that voice anywhere.

I turned around to face him and took a deep breath. I wasn't going to let him faze me. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Electra-Man himself. Come to join the party, I see."

"The only party you'll be a part of is the one that happens in prison!"

I furrowed my brows. I never did understand his way of speech. Él fue un poco corto de luces; if you catch my drift.

I shook my head. "You are no longer Electra-Man. I have your suit, you are powerless against me." Even as I spoke to him, I felt my confidence growing. I stood up tall on the hover-board I occupied. I looked down upon him from the seemingly endless height. With a smirk, I added, "This city no longer knows the meaning of the word 'hero'."

The population stood still, wide-eyed. They knew what was going to happen before Electra-Man ever did.

The smirk still decorating my golden skin, I said, "Sayonara, Electra-Man."

With a simple wave of my finger, zap! He was gone for good.

The rest of that day was a bit of a blur for me, but one thing was for certain: that suit marked the beginning and end of an era, and was my salvation.
