A date

Would you go on a date with me?
Prem asked suddenly

A date? Preeti enunciated perplexed

Yes, as in two people going out and having a nice time together -

I know what a date is , but don't you think we're past that step. Preeti interrupted

No, we skipped it, i think it will be fun. Just the two of us.
And it's the best time because we are the only people here,so there will be no Vinod to tease or to tell. It will be like our little secret .
He stated with confidence. They were both house sitting for Pritam uncle while he was in Pune for 2 weeks. It was only them alone with no one to bother them

Well, it does sound nice.
She gave in

Then good, tomorrow at 5 . he replied joyfully and left the room.

The next day, Preeti donned a simple yellow salwar with pink and black designs. She left her hair open as usual and put on a little makeup. The doorbell rang suddenly, she went to the door and saw Prem holding a bouquet of flowers looking quite dashing.

What's this ? She inquired amused.
Proper date etiquette, I believe he replied with a grin
Is that so?
Yes,and can I say you look beautiful, He said, so are we going to stay chatting and let these beautiful flowers wilt or shall we begin our date. He asked teasingly.
Let me put this in a vase and we will get going and you look quite dashing as well she replied with a light laugh.

She went to the kitchen to put the flowers while thinking how amusing this entire situation was, a few years ago if she and Prem had gone on a date, they would both be very shy and not teasing each other like they are now.

She hurried back to Prem and locked the house and they went to the car, P Prem opened the door for her making her blush and then got seated himself. They drove for about 15  minutes with light conversation between them. Preeti didn't ask what he had planned , she knew he wanted it to be a surprise. And unlike most people she actually like surprises so she didn't mind the secrecy.

They arrived at their destination which was a beautiful lookout point of the city below and a breathtaking view of the sunset. Prem must have been looking for this place all day while out. There was a picnic blanket it set up and a smart choice of a battery powered lamp for when the place got dark.

Prem was quite proud of himself finding this location, he knew it was a good choice when he saw his wife's reaction to it. He got out of the car and went to the other side to open the door for her. He retrieved the picnic basket from the backseat and took her hand in his and guided her to the blanket. They both sat down and he removed the food from the basket. He took out her food first and then his. He then filled two cups with champagne.
Very creative,Mr Malhotra, I have to admit I was not expecting this. she admitted quite impressed.
And what were you expecting Mrs Malhotra? He asked cheekily.
Swallowing her food, she said Mmm I don't know, dinner at a restaurant and a movie you know, like all the movies.
And then I will make the move where the guy pretends to yawn and puts his arm around the girl. He teased.
Would you really? She asked,daring him with her eyes.
Never one to refuse such a dare, he took it a step further and pulled her into his lap.
Prem she squealed with surprise.
What? he asked laughing.
At least give a little warning before doing that. She admonished
Next time but for now look there he pointed at the setting sun.

They both watched the sun go down completely enamored by its beauty. They finished eating with some idle conversation between them and packed up the car.

Prem once again opened the door for her and then began to drive them to their next destination. Stopping at the traffic light, he asked her if she liked the date so far, to which she said that she loved it. He smiled at her reaction and took her hand in his for the rest of the ride, moving it only to change gears.

They arrived at a ice cream parlor.
Time for dessert he said enthusiastically.
They both ordered their flavors and went to a booth in the corner, eating their ice cream and occasionally stealing some from each other, they finished their dessert and headed back home.

Upon arriving home,they walked to the door quickly seeing that the rain clouds were set up. He turned to face her and said that he had a great night , following along with the cliché, she replied the ever classic 'me too' and looked everywhere but him. Laughing at themselves, he completed the cliché, by taking her face in his hands and placed a kiss on her lips. They pulled away with identical smiles on their faces.
Wanna do something extremely cliché? He asked eyeing the slight rainfall.
Following along his eyesight she said the were already doing all the clichés, they might as well do this one too.

He took her hand and guided them into the rain. He positioned them to be chest to chest and begin swaying to a non existent beat. He twirled her around a couple times, then he placed his arms on her waist on she rested hers on his chest , relaxing her body into his. She closed her eyes and listened to his heartbeat letting him guide her steps. After a short while, he told her they should go inside before they got sick, but before they went in, he leaned down and pressed a slow sweet kiss on her lips, closing her eyes, she responded to his kiss with an equal vigour. At her response he pulled her closer to him, practically molding her to him. This kiss lasted a lot longer than the last one and was much sweeter. Prem pulled away , slightly out of breath and saw Preeti's eyes open slowly dazed from his kiss.

They both went inside and showered and got ready for bed. Settling under the covers, Prem pulled his wife closer to him so that they face to face. They both expressed their enjoyment of the date and Preeti told Prem he would have to step up his game for the next one. Agreeing with his wife, he placed a kiss on her lips. They wished each other a good nights sleep and fell asleep in each others embrace.
