Prem and Preeti(HSSH one shots )

Heartbroken

Hello , Ram kishenji , This is Dr. Seth , Preeti is on her way home and I would like everyone to go easy on her, she lost her first patient today and is quite beaten up about it, don't try to cheer her up because that doesn't work, just be there for her and console her .

The answering machine beeped. Everyone in the living room was dumbfounded and stared at one another in silence.
5 minutes later, a quiet Preeti entered the house,with a blank expression on her face and looking like she hasn't slept in weeks. Sapna asked her if she would like to go to the movies later and Sadha offered to warm up food for her. She denied both offers with a forced smile and was going to make her way upstairs.

Pritam uncle got up and went to his daughter pulling her into his embrace. He knew how this would affect her, the reason she became a doctor was to save lives so people would never have to lose a loved one before their time like she lost her mother. She always said she'll save them all, she never took into consideration that sometimes people just have to leave this earth and there is nothing they can do.

He held her tightly and asked her if she wanted to talk about it. She shook her head against him,and burrowed her face into his chest hugging him tighter.

My little princess, don't cry, your mother was a doctor too remember, she will take care of your patient now, you left him in good hands
He said into her hair ,swaying her slightly attempting to comfort her .
He continued murmuring reassurance in her ear all the while holding her like he did when she was a child to comfort her.

Meanwhile, Prem had just come home from work, upon seeing his wife in her fathers embrace and everyone crowded around them he became alarmed wondering what was wrong. Vinod saw his elder brother came in and informed him quietly of what happened. Every cell in his body wanted to go her and take her in arms to protect her from this terrible world but he restrained himself. He knew right now she needed her father, he moved towards his father in law to stand beside him and felt his heart wrench at the sight of his hurt wife. She was so happy all the time always seeing the best of everything and to see her like this now broke his heart.
Pritam uncle saw Prem arrive and whispered in his daughter's ear that Prem was here and guided her to him.

Preeti melted into Prem's embrace and pulled him closer to her. She felt his arms tighten around her and she felt all her walls crumble and she began to cry. She could feel her tears soaking his shirt as she sobbed against his chest but she couldn't care. She felt him guiding them to sit down on the sofa. He sat down and she curled up on his lap, her head still resting on his chest as she cried. He said nothing just running his hand up and down her back to comfort her and occasionally placing soft kisses on her head. And at that point that was the best thing he could have done for her.

His heart squeezed painfully at her sob and he felt his shirt being soaked. He manoeuvred her body to fit comfortably on his. He didn't care of what his family saw and how Vinod might attempt to tease them in future he just did what he thought best to comfort her at the time. Eventually he felt her stop crying and her breathing even out. She was exhausted and fell asleep in his embrace.

He gently lifted up his sleeping wife and excused them both. He carried her to their room and gently placed her on the bed. He removed her slippers and undid her hair tie so she could sleep comfortably. He tucked her in the blankets and placed a kiss on her forehead. He smiled at the sound of her soft sigh and she turned to make herself comfy on the bed and by that he meant she was halfway on his side of the bed searching for his warmth.

He decided to stay in bed with her and changed into his sleeping clothes. He went under the covers and took of the lamp. He felt Preeti searching for him and he placed his arms around her,hugging her to him. She placed her head on his chest and practically laid on him. She wiggled around a bit and then settled back down in a deep sleep. He continued to caress her back until he fell asleep

A few hours later, Prem woke up to find his wife still asleep beside him. She must of been emotionally drained after today's events but he saw how dark the sky was and knew that she had to eat something. He removed himself from the bed,careful not to wake her and made his way downstairs. There he saw Sadhna babhi and Pritam uncle talking. Prem requested that she make something for Preeti to eat , before he took the food to her, Sadhna insisted that he eat something first.

After eating, he carried the tray of food to his room. He gently woke Preeti to eat something. She protested at first insisting that she had no appetite but Prem wasn't going to give in. Prem hand fed her until she ate everything on the platter. They both then took turns to wash up. They both settled into bed and Prem finally asked if she wanted to talk about it. She told him everything from when the man came in the operating room to when he flat lined. Her voice broke and she cried while relating the event but Prem just held her close and offered her comfort. He knew there was nothing he could tell her to ease her pain so he gave her physical comfort and once again they fell asleep in each others arms.

Preeti was torn up badly about everything but with everyone's love and support she was back to her old self after a few weeks.
