The crisp air ignited all of my senses to come awake. I opened my eyes and noticed the window was slightly open, the covers carelessly thrown over me. I smiled and stretched, the sturdy figure was the male I was promised too. Although I knew I would never be able to love him fully, nor him me. It was nice knowing that someone would be there to take care of me all the time.

"Wake up Siri. We have a run this morning." he slipped on a muscle shirt and smiled at me. His light brown eyes so vivid in the rising sunlight. I sat up and shook out my tousled hair. "You are gorgeous in the morning. No wonder she loves you." I looked up at him, seeing a genuine smile on his lips. He was referring to his sister, the very object of my dreams. The woman I fell in love with.

"No, she likes me 'cause of my awesome personality. It might also be the fact that I'm the fastest in the pack. Suck it bro." I stood up and ran my fingers down his toned chest. A low playful growl responded to me. I flicked his chin and took off for the bathroom.

I stood at the mirror looking at my reflection. I was pretty. Light brown hair with natural red streaks, heart shaped face, pouty lips, dark brown eyes with specks of gold, and a strong yet fragile chin. I was skinny, well toned, but skinny. My skin was tanned by hours in the sun gathering and hunting for my family. The forest was my repertoire of choice.

"Oi, hurry it up in there woman!" I heard Jon Paul yell through the door.

"Keep your skin on, JP! I'm the only girl in the house, I need privacy!" I locked the door for good measure.

I did my lady business and left the bathroom 30 minutes later. Shortest I ever spent in the bathroom I can tell you.

"Mum! Dad!" I walked in the kitchen, seeing my 3 brothers and 'mate' scarfing down waffles and eggs. I sat next to Sean, my 'mate' and kissed him on the cheek. It was a facade for my parents and his. I loved someone else and he loved someone else. Totally lucky that happened.

Conversation was minimal, with the feast set before us. My mum was in and out of the kitchen bringing in more waffles and eggs and bacon for us. Strawberry was my favourite, so my mum made dozens of strawberry waffles just for me.

"I swear I'm having a food baby." I leaned against Sean and groaned slightly.

"Emy won't appreciate that." Sean had trouble holding back his laughter while saying that. He picked me up and carried me outside.

Time for some hunting.

My fur was a reddish brown colour, I was like a wolf in many ways, but at the same time i was different. I could bend Earth.

The Lakota oyate, or Lakota people, had this special ability that no one in the world knew. A best kept secret. We were benders of the four elements. Fire, water, earth and air. If we didn't have the wolf gene in us, we had a bending gene. Every family belonged to an element, their bodies solely used for it. Their last names were hints. Runs with his horses, air, Kills in water, water, Sits in sight, earth, comes back holy, fire.

We were the people that helped keep the world balanced. Our powers controlled us, not the other way around. We did as the elements wanted; Yellowstone was our pride and joy. The rocks and water remembered the time of creation and told us it's stories.

I ran, my claws digging into the hard packed earth. Sean was a lil ways infront of me, scouting the area before I ran with him.

It's safe. Herd of deer was here I'd say thirty minutes ago.

I slowed when he sat back on his haunches. I rubbed my snout in his side. Showing affection amongst us was common. It was even encouraged. Everybody was comfortable with everybody else. It was intimate, it was exhilirating, and it was safe. Feeling a body close to yours was almostlike cuddling into your mother's chest as a child.
