We walked down the stairs after thoroughly getting a feel for each other. I don’t need to say anymore, pervs. I fixed my hair and watched as Emy literally bounced down the stairs. She was more excited about this; she didn’t seem to mind that she was literally coming out as lesbian to the pack.
But we weren’t lesbians. No, we were souls mated to each other. We didn’t choose to love each other, which is the fantastic thing about love. It can happen between any two people, any being that contains a soul. And they have no say in the matter. I didn’t really look at girls that way before I met Emy, I thought they were majestic creatures that were beautiful and lovely to look at.
I never considered myself bisexual, no; I just appreciated both sexes for the beautiful qualities they possessed. I felt that the world was tied up in the social media, the antics of trying to find somewhere where they belonged. They were all caught up in the nonsense that said Beauty was a permanent definition and everybody had to conform to that.
I, Siri Swiftfoot, loved the beautiful soul Emy High Eagle. The love wouldn’t be any different if she was male. It would be love, and people should leave it at that without trying to label us.
“Mom-” Emy was enveloped in a big embrace. The short woman held onto Emy so tight, I heard her back pop. I smiled slightly and looked for Sean. Amane was staring outside and he was holding her hand gently, whispering to her.
“Kept a secret for this long in this small town! And you!” I felt a poke on my shoulder, I looked down and my smile faltered. “You’re the daughter of the alpha, the chief. You have responsibilities to perform and you kept this from the pack. That’s a heavy burden for someone your age. There was a love triangle, between my kids. I’m sorry you felt you had to keep this from me.” She turned to Emy and started to hug her again.
“You guys have school, you should get going.” It felt like a rock hit me and sunk to the pit of my stomach when Sean said that. My abdomen was on fire with warnings.
“Oh! Yes, yes school. Go. We’ll have time to talk about this when you get back after.” Her mom pushed me and Emy to the door, Amane was carried upstairs by Sean. I grabbed Emy’s hand and we left quickly.
When we got outside, the air was still. It was dark out, like the clouds were resting on us, but it wasn’t fog.
I pulled Emy down the street, quickly bringing her closer to me. I saw my silver gallant just a few houses down. I picked up our pace and practically sprinted the last 20 yards to the car. We quickly jumped in and I locked the doors. The ominous feeling never leaving me.
-At school-
I kissed Emy on the cheek as I walked her to her second period. She smiled slightly and held onto my arm tighter, the students around us were shocked to see us like this. The whispers weren’t as bad as I had imagined them to be. Even though the air and earth around us in our small town was pressing danger closer, the only talk seemed to be the new matings of Sean and me.
The most common word whispered amongst my peers was Lesbian. Emy turned and stood on her tip toes to give me a kiss, her small 5’3 frame pressing into me. I gently rested my hands on her hips and kissed her back. She pulled away and smiled at me; I kissed her cheek and nodded towards the door. Her skin on mine made my already heated temperature rise just a few more degrees.
“See you at lunch, front doors.” She rubbed my stomach as she reminded me, like I would forget to spend more time with her. My muscles tightened under her touch and she knew it. I held onto her hand as I walked away, feeling her fingers slip through mine until I was too far away.
I already missed her.
I sighed and hurried to my class, anatomy II. Today we had a test, so I hurried in, placed my phone in the check-in holders and grabbed 3 binders. They acted as dividers between my table mates and I. I sat down heavily and watched as my classmates got in some last minute studying, wrote answers on wrists or thighs, or just sat and talked with one another. The stool I was sitting on was almost kicked out from beneath me.
“You and Emy, eh? Nobody would ever see that pairing.” I looked up at Mark as he was twirling his pencil in his hand. He had this look of curiosity, so I let him continue, “The elders say that once you find your mate, you’ll make more pups or benders. The chemistry between two people, the sex, you have to produce. Two girls. Tell me how that works.” He sat on the stool on my right and looked me straight in the eyes.
“It works the same as it does between a male and female. Obviously in it’s different in this century than the last one.” I rolled my eyes at him; he was a pitiful pup in my eyes. He was bummed out that he hadn’t found his mate during the season. He annoyed everyone with his hurt pup act. He was close to being the Omega in the pack, if not for Iktomi who had a pure brown coat, no other colors. Plain, dull brown.
Mark huffed and went to his seat as the teacher called the class to order. I shook my head disapprovingly and got ready for the test.
~Lunch~
I ducked the fist that swung straight towards my face. I lunged at the waist ahead of me and landed with a noticeable huff on top of them. I sat up only to get knocked into the air. The girl I was fighting was putting up a big fight. I pinned her twice already, I just needed 5 more seconds with her face in the dirt and I’d be invincible.
I pretended I was tired and she yanked on my leg to stun me. It worked. I lay dazed under her, her arms wrapped around me, pinning my arms to my sides. She stood up and threw me down. The air rushed out of my lungs just as fast as I was grabbing her legs and knocking them out from under her. She landed with a thud and a loud grunt.
I quickly swung myself onto her, straddling her chest as my knees held her arms down.
“One! Two! Three! Four! Five! Swiftfoot wins!” I heard someone yell. I felt thumps on my back as people congratulated me. I smiled and winced slightly, she got a punch in there thus slicing my lip.
“Uh-oh pissed off mate making her way over ‘ere!” I looked up and noticed Emy stalking her over to me. I tried getting up but ended up on my butt, I had no idea how to react or what to say to her. She walked up in a quick pace then stood over me with an unwavering glare.
“Fighting? Again? We were supposed to have lunch, Swiftfoot.” I grimaced as she snarled the words at me. To be honest, Emy angry is the only fight I ever lost.
“So I got carried away. I’m $50 richer now.” I carefully stood, holding my hands out to stop any of her punches or slaps. She took a deep breath as I smiled; my smile fell when she stepped closer. I smelt her wonderfully intoxicating scent and almost all was lost at that moment.
“Money? Over me? You could’ve at least told me so I could watch.” She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me down slightly. Her lips met mine and I scooped her up into the air. Our mouths moved in sync.
She pulled away and I set her down, then she slapped me; I snapped back to reality. She kissed me so I’d drop my guard, she’s so clever and that’s another reason why I love her. She pushed my shoulder playfully. “Loser. I’m starved. And we missed lunch.” I gave her a lopsided grin as the bell rang.
