Sonic looked outside the window of his 'house'. It wasn't much. All it had was two beds and that's about it. The window had a view of the palace, and he would often dream about what it was like to live in there.

"That's where we are going to be one day,Tails. In the palace. We'll have servents...we'll be rich...I'll finally make my mother proud of me..."

Sonic then let out a few tears. Sonic's mother always wanted the best of him,so Sonic had been the best hedgehog he could be. But one day,Sonic lost everything. He had spent all of his money and he couldn't find a job. Sonic's dad died from a heart attack, and his mom became deadly ill. Sonic wanted to do something,so he stole medicine guaranteed to cure her. When he went over to visit,he brought her the medicine. He could remember the conversation:

'Mother,I have medicine that will make you better.'

'This must have costed a million dollars.'

'It did.'

'Then you stole it?'

'...yes,mother.'

'I will not take it unless it is paid for.'

'But,mother,it will save your life.'

'Who cares,Sonic? You stole this medicine. I will not take it.'

'But mother-'

'You have made me very unproud.'

The next day,Sonic's mother was found dead, and he vowed to make her proud of him.

"But look at me now..."

He looked out the window as he sang,

"Proud of your boy. I'll make you proud of your boy. Believe me,as bad as I've been,Ma,you're in for a pleasant surprise. I've wasted time,I've wasted me. So say I'm slow for my age a late bloomer, okay,I agree. That I've been one rotten kid, some son, some pride, and some joy. But I'll get over these lousin up,messin up,screwin up times. You'll see,Ma,now comes the better part, someone's gonna make good, cross his stupid heart. Make good and finally make you proud of your boy."

Sonic got up from the window. He walked over to the bed that was his and sat down. He was remembering every second he had spent with his mother before she became unproud with him. Sonic sang,

"Tell me that I've been a louse and a loafer, you won't get a fight here,no ma'am. Say I'm a goldbrick,a goof-off,no good. But that can't be all that I am. Water flows under the bridge, let it pass, let it go. There's no good reason you should believe me,not yet,I know, but someday and soon,I'll make you proud of your boy. Though I can't make myself taller or smarter or handsome,or wise. I'll do my best. What else can I do? Since I wasn't born perfect like Dad or you. Mom I'll try to try hard to make you proud of your boy."

Sonic got up and looked at Tails. Tails went to bed and Sonic did too. Their day was finally over.
