The Cave of Wonders

When Sonic and the disguised Eggman arrived at the Cave,it roared,

"Who DARES to awaken me?!"

Sonic looked at the Cave with a I - don't - care look on his face. But with the red glowing eyes,Sonic's expression quickly changed.

"It is I,Sonic."

"...Proceed. But touch nothing but the Emerald."

The disguised Eggman called after Sonic before he could take one step.

"Remember,boy,bring me the Emerald. Then you can have your reward."

Sonic walked into the Cave of Wonders,with Tails trembling behind him. The Cave was dark and had a lot of stairs. There were zig zags and up downs. It was almost like a maze,but Sonic kept his cool through it all. He eventually came across a room full of gold.

"Well,looky here. Just a hand full of this stuff will make me richer than the King!"

Tails was excited from all the money,so he darted out from behind Sonic. Sonic reached out his arm.

"Tails,wait!"

Tails stopped dead in his tracks. He was about an inch away from stepping on a carpet. Sonic walked over to Tails.

"Don't. Touch. Anything! We need to find that Emerald."

Tails groaned and whined and then started walking again. But the carpet Tails almost stepped on came to life. It followed Tails. Tails sensed something and whipped around,but the carpet fell down on the floor. When Tails turned around to continue walking,the carpet came back to life and followed Tails some more. When Tails turned around again,the carpet rolled up and went against a wall. Tails got really scared,so he went over to Sonic.

"Tails,will you knock it off?!"

Tails frowned and followed Sonic...and the carpet followed Tails. It poked Tails,and when Tails turned around,it flew above Tails's head. When it poked Tails again,Tails turned around ready to attack,but the carpet went above Tails's head again. The carpet then picked up Tails's hat. Tails ran towards Sonic,knocking Sonic done on the ground.

"Tails!!! What,are you CRAZY?!"

That's when Sonic noticed the carpet fly away to hide.

"A magic carpet..."

Sonic tried to make the carpet come out. He fingered to it.

"Come on,boy. Come on. I won't hurt you."

The carpet came out of hiding. It picked up Tails's hat and brushed it off a bit. When the carpet approached Tails and Sonic,Tails flipped out and hid behind Sonic.

"Woah,take it easy there,Tails. It's not gonna bite."

The carpet handed Tails's hat to Tails but he rejected it. Sonic put out his hand and the carpet gave the hat to him.

"Thank you."

Sonic handed the hat to Tails,who took it,but then started to criticize the carpet. The carpet slumped over and started to walk in the oppisite direction.

"Wait,don't go! Maybe you can help us."

The carpet perked up.

"You see,we're looking for this Emerald."

The carpet flew in front of them and motioned for them to follow.

"I think he knows where if is! Come on,Tails!"

Sonic and Tails followed the carpet to another room. This room was darker than the rest,and had a mountain made of stones. Sonic turned back to the carpet and Tails.

"Wait here."

Sonic went off to climb the mountsin. Tails crossed his arms. But then he turned to find a red jewel resting in the arms of a statue. Tails immediately went for the jewel. Slowly at first. The carpet noticed Tails walking towards the jewel and tried to hold him back. Meanwhile,Sonic was at the top of the mountain of stones. There was an Emerald there. Sonic carefully picked it up. He studied it.

"This is it? This is what we came all the way down here-"

Sonic turned around to find the carpet keeping Tails from touching the red jewel.

"Tails! No!"

Too late. Tails picked up the jewel,and Sonic could hear the Cave's voice.

"You have touched the FORBIDDEN TREASURE!!!!"

Tails put the jewel back where it was,but it melted right there.

"Now you will never again see the LIGHT OF DAY!!!"

Sonic ran down the mountain of stones as rubble fell down. Everything seemed to be melting. Sonic jumped but didn't notice that there was lava. The carpet caught Sonic right before he got a really bad sun burn. The carpet,with Sonic riding it,swooped down on Tails. They were now all on the carpet,and a bunch of lava was following them.

"Woah,carpet let's get out of here!"

The carpet flew faster. With the lava chasing them,Tails started to freak out,so he hugged Sonic. The only problem was that Tails had his arms around Sonic's eyes.

"Tails! Tails,this is no time to panic!"

When Tails lifted his arms from where Sonic's eyes were,Sonic saw them about to crash right into a wall.

"Start panicking."

The carpet did a sudden turn,and they were flying out of the place. They soon saw an exit,and so they headed straight towards it. They were flying over a pit. While flying,a boulder fell and the carpet fell,too. Sonic and Tails were flinged off. Sonic grabbed the edge of the exit. Sonic looked up and there was the disguised Eggman. Sonic shouted,

"Help me up!"

"Give me the Emerald!"

"I...I can't hold on much longer!"

"First give me the Emerald!"

Sonic sighed then handed the Emerald over to the disguised Eggman. The disguised Eggman held it up in the air.

"YES!!! It's mine!"

Sonic tried to hold out his hand.

"What are you doing?"

"Giving you your reward."

The disguised Eggman took out a dagger. Sonic's eyes widened.

"Your eternal reward."

Tails flew up using his tails and punched the disguised Eggman in the face. The disguised Eggman smacked Tails and Sonic,leaving them to fall into the pit. Lucky for them,the carpet got out from under the boulder just in time to break there fall. The Cave of Wonders sank into the ground,leaving Sonic inside. Outside,though,Eggman ripped off his fake beard and danced around.

"It's mine! It's finally mine!"

When Eggman went to pull it out,though,it was gone. He searched for it.

"What?!"

He searched all over his disguise,but didn't find it.

"No. NOOO!!!!!"
