Monday morning
Xael's P.O.V.
I ran up to Cody and kissed him. He laughed and scooped me up in a big bear hug.
"Good morning to you to." he said playfully, and I giggled. We talked until the bell rang, and 1st and 2nd period went by fast. It was 3rd period when I got the note to the office. I never get notes! What could it be?
Xael Huffton. Office. Come immediately.
That's all it said. The teacher said I need to go right now, so I got up and left silently.
I arrived at the office, and walked up to the front desk. I looked at the receptionist.
"Uh, hi. I'm Xael Huffton, and I was told I had to come to the office." I said as I put the message on the counter for the lady to see.
"Yes, Principal Jeffrey will see you soon." she said in a bored voice as her fingers furiously typed away. I fake-smiled and sat down in a hard plastic chair.
"Xael. I will see you now." Principal Jeffrey called out from the doorway about 3 minutes later. I stood up and followed him into his office. He told me that I have a phone call, and he handed me the phone and walked out of the room.
"Uh, hello? Who is this?" I asked nervously.
"Hey Xael! It's Jeanie! I have some...news." Jeanie said into the phone.
"Oh, hey Jeanie. Uh, good or bad news?" I asked, hoping it was good.
"Well, sorry to tell you this, but it's...bad news." she replied. My face fell. Bad news, that's not good.
"Uh, that's not good. What happened?"
"Well, the blood came back from the lab today." she said.
"And...?" I eased her on.
"And...I'm afraid...I'm so sorry Xael..." she said with sadness in her voice.
"Um, you never told me what happened..."
"Oh. Right. I'm afraid you have... Cancer."
Cancer. No...please...no...
