3 Months Later
Xael's P.O.V.It was my deadline. I was terrified. The doctors and nurses said not to worry; just let it happen. But I couldn't. I can't just die! Not at 16 years old! I had been crying all night and all morning because the doctor said this was my last day alive. He asked me if I wanted to bring anyone in, and I said my family and Cody. My family had already come, but they were only allowed to stay in my room for a certain amount of time, so they had to leave. But I knew they were glad to leave, because they hated me. And honestly, I think they would be happier if I died. Now, I was just waiting for Cody.
"Xael! I'm here." I heard Cody gasp from the doorway. He was clearly out of breath, and I motioned for him to come sit next to me on the bed. It was silent in my room, except for the beep...beep...beep...beep of my heart rate monitor on the screen.
He came and sat down on the side of my bed, and he took my hand.
"Hey. So, this is supposed to be my last day..." I said quietly. He looked at me.
"Yes, but we're not going to let that happen, are we? Like I said, you're going to live 50 more years. And you're going to go to college, and get married, and get a house, and have two beautiful children, and three dogs, and you're going to live happily ever after." He told me with a smile.
"Wow thanks for planning my future out for me." I said sarcastically, and we both laughed. It felt nice to laugh. It also felt nice to have Cody comforting you. He looked me in the eye, and he pointed my chin towards him so that I was looking at him too.
"Listen to me, I'm not just saying this to comfort you. I'm saying this because I don't think you really understand how much I actually do: I love you. Xael, I love you more than anything! I love you more than my childhood teddy bear. I love you more than Christmas and my birthday combined. I love you to the moon and back, 900 billion times. I love you! And I hope you love me too." He admitted. I was speechless.
"Wow...I...wow. Thank you! I've never... I've never had anyone say anything that...touching...before." I looked up at him and smiled, "And yes, of course I love you." I giggled and kissed him gently.
Then, I felt a sharp pain in my back.
