Cody's P.O.V.

It was Xael's last day. I bet she was terrified. I woke up this morning and got dressed. Then, I rushed to the hospital. When I got there, I didn't need to ask for the room number for two reasons. 1: I had it memorized by now. 2: The person at the front desk was used to me do I in, and didn't stop me anymore.

I ran up the stairs because the elevator takes too long. I sprinted through the hallways and found her room. Number 684. I would never forget that number, as long as I lived.

Anyways. I stood in the doorway and shouted "Xael! I'm here." I looked at her, and she had tears streaming down her cheeks. She looked like she had seen my grandma in her underwear! And that's not a pretty sight...

I walked over to her bed and sat down. I held her hand.

"Hey. So, this is supposed to be my last day..." She said quietly. I looked at her.

"Yes, but we're not going to let that happen, are we? Like I said, you're going to live 50 more years. And you're going to go to college, and get married, and get a house, and have two beautiful children, and three dogs, and you're going to live happily ever after." I told her with a smile.

"Wow thanks for planning my future out for me." She said sarcastically, and we both laughed. It felt nice to laugh. It also felt nice to have the love of your life sitting next to you. I looked her in the eye, and I pointed her chin towards me so that she was looking at me too.

"Listen to me, I'm not just saying this to comfort you. I'm saying this because I don't think you really understand how much I actually do: I love you. Xael, I love you more than anything! I love you more than my childhood teddy bear. I love you more than Christmas and my birthday combined. I love you to the moon and back, 900 billion times. I love you! And I hope you love me too." I admitted. I could tell she was speechless.

"Wow...I...wow. Thank you! I've never... I've never had anyone say anything that...touching...before." She looked up at me and smiled, "And yes, of course I love you." She giggled and kissed me gently.

And that's when I saw her face change. Instead of the caring, sweet girl she was, it changed into the look of pain. Something was happening. I got up, and her heart rate monitor started beeping faster and faster until I thought it was going to explode. Nurses and doctors came rushing in, pushing me out of the way. When I saw the look of sorrow on their faces, and I heard the one, long single beep of the monitor, I knew.

She was gone.
