1. An Ordinary Day

I woke up to the annoying noise of my alarm clock. It's only the second week into October and I'm already tired of school. I can't believe that I was so excited for it to come back a month ago.

I quickly went into the bathroom and got ready to start my day. As I was brushing my hair, I glanced at myself in the mirror and saw a pair of hazel eyes staring back at me. I really needed a haircut, my dark brown hair was almost down to my stomach. After brushing my teeth, I changed into a pair of faded blue skinny jeans and a grey sweater. There was no time to look cute, as usual.

I ran downstairs and went straight to the kitchen. I took an apple for breakfast and was out the door in seconds. If I don't start running now, I'll never catch the bus. I sprinted in the cold autumn air and barely made it in time before the bus picked me up.

By the time I got to school, the first bell already rang. Oh no, I have to hurry. Everyone else in the hallways didn't seem to mind being late, probably because they didn't have the meanest teacher in the entire school.

The bell rang just as I walked into the class. Phew, I was safe.

"Today I'm assigning you guys a project," my English teacher declared. "This will be done in groups of three," people started to cheer.

"Shh, I will be choosing the groups, so the intelligence level would all be around the same," he continued.

Yep, he was definitely one of the most hated teachers for a reason. I ended being in the same group with a girl who I only talked to once and a guy that never does his homework. Great, just great.

Just as we were about the discuss about the project, the bell rang. Everyone left as fast as the speed of light. One class down, three more to go.

As I was changing for PE, I heard a few girls talking.

"Hey, isn't Leo hot?"

"Yeah, too bad he's taken."

"The basketball player and the cheerleader, how fitting."

Ah, the two most popular people at Winters High School were being talked about. Of course. You see, I never really liked PE for many reasons. First of all, the majority of the girls only liked gossiping about the latest news at the school. Can't they do that somewhere else? Not everyone is interested in what you're talking about. Secondly, I never really liked sports or doing anything that requires moving a lot. Yes, I get that it's supposed to be healthy, but it's just not for me.

~~~~~
I had to wait 15 minutes in the ridiculously long cafeteria line up, before I got my lunch. Today's special was macaroni and cheese with a side of carrots, yum. I grabbed my lunch and sat down by myself at the nearest table. I never really made any friends ever since I moved to the school in September. Everyone already had their own group of friends and I just couldn't seem to fit in. Luckily, I just needed to survive one more year then I'll be out of here forever.
I finished eating my lunch and went to the library. There was another 20 minutes before my next class, which was history. Hmm, I read that before, read that, oh what's this?
By the time the bell rang, I ended up checking out two new books. I'll probably finish them within a week, depending if it's good or not.
~~~~~

I was going to my locker, when I accidentally bumped into someone. I quickly apologized, yet the person wouldn't get out of my way. I looked up to see Alice glaring at me, with her icy blue eyes.

"Where do you think you're going?" she barked.

Everyone in the halls were starting to stare. I tried to ignore her, but she wouldn't let me off the hook.

"I'm Alice Hunter, the queen of the school and you dare bump into me?"

Yes, yes we all know that. She was plain annoying and always seemed to have fun picking on me. After glaring for another minute, she stomped down the hallway, her heels clacking noisily on the dirty floor.

What is her problem? Hopefully I'll never have to see her again. I went to my locker and hurried to the bus stop. Time to go work at my part time job.

~~~~~
I arrived at the small cafe that was located at the corner of Main St. Ironically, it was actually called The Little Cafe. It was close to my house so I could easily go home after work. That was the only reason why I applied for this job, honestly.
There were quite a few customers today, so it took a while for all the orders to be ready. Carla was the only other person working today. She was a middle aged lady, with glasses and short black hair. She was kind and we got along fine, always telling each other stories. I don't really see my other coworkers very often since the shifts were always the same.
The door opened as the chimes swayed back and forth. I put on my best smile and asked what he wanted. As I took a closer look, I realized that he was the main character of today's PE gossip show. He was Leo Carter, the boyfriend of the one and only Alice.
