Fidelis's POV

Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and I could feel my heart squeeze.

My wolf howled as did the rest of the pack. I squeezed my eyes closed right and choked on a sob. I tilted my head back and howled in agony. I stood up slowly, my mate in my arms and looked around me.

There were bodies everywhere, all of them belonging to the hunters. I looked at my pack and turned my back to them when I saw all of their teary eyes and sympathetic looks.

A hand clapped my back and I looked to my right to see Alpha.

"She did good, Son. This pack will always remember her sacrifice." I nodded solemnly and started towards the pack house, slowly at first but then sprinting.

I ran to our-my room and set her down on the bed, gently. I knelt next to her on the floor and laid my chin on the edge of the bed. My wolf whimpered as her body laid still, unmoving.

"This isn't real. You said you wouldn't leave me. You can't leave me. You can't be dead. It's a lie. Wake up, amica mea. Please. " My soft, pain-filled whispers fell upon deaf ears.

I laid my forehead down on the edge of the bed as the tears began to fall freely. Here, in my room, with no one around, I could mourn without having to look strong.

Goodbye.

After many hours passed by, I stood up, slowly and glanced at my mate. I went to touch her cheeks but withdrew at the last moment, my fist clenching and my eyes closed tight.

I turned my head, and slowly walked towards the door. My hand on the door knob, I glanced back once more and then walked away, shutting the door behind me.

Mystery POV

I watched, tears falling from my eyes as Fidelis walked away from his mate. It wasn't supposed to end like this. They weren't supposed to be apart.

I cringed as the door closed, leaving only me and his mate. I walked over o her slowly and sat down on the edge of the bed next to her. I leaned over to whisper in her ear.

"Hello, Elizabeth. I'm so sorry for how things turned out. It wasn't supposed to be like this. You sacrificed yourself all because of your parents' selfish cause. Know that you will always be a hero, no matter how much time passes by. I shall be watching over you and all of your loved ones from now until forever and I will make sure that no harm comes by them for as long as I exist."

When I was done, I stood up and smiled down at her. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and exhaled a blue light.

Her whole body was being enveloped by my breath as the door opened and Fidelis walked in.

He growled at me and ran towards me, trying to protect his mate. I stepped back and let him stand protectively in front of his mate. He looked behind him, over his shoulder at her and his head snapped to me.

"What did you do?!" He growled. I smiled gracefully at him and shook my head.

"Dear child, learn from this experience and never take anything for granted. She has done what needed to be done and paid a great price. I am rewarding both her and you so do not make me regret this decision."

Fidelis's POV

The mysterious woman began to fade but I didn't care. I was focused on my mate.

Her pale skin was beginning to get back some color and her fingers began to twitch.

I held my breath, not wanting to get my hopes up too high.

She surged up and looked around.

"Amica mea..." I whispered breathlessly and her eyes landed on me, a smile gracing her face.

"Hi." She whispered, quietly.
