Elizabeth's POV

I was running through the forest. The trees were clawing at my clothes and the bushes were nipping at my bare feet, but I didn't care.

I broke through the forest and into a clearing. There was a river in front of me, running through the clearing. I sat down on a tree stump that was next to the river. My legs were crossed beneath me and my hands were in my lap.

I was waiting for something, someone.

I closed my eyes and focused on the smells of the forest. I drew in a deep breath around me. A sweet, honey smell filled my nose from the pink and yellow flowers that littered the ground around me, a clear, and refreshing smell invaded my senses from the river, as well.

I listened to the sounds of the forest around me. I could hear the sound of water rushing through the clearing, bees buzzing as they landed on the delicate flowers, and the wind flowing gently through the trees.

All was peaceful and calm.

The sound of the grass being rustled and moved through made my eyes snap open. I looked across the river where a huge rock was and saw two shadows standing on top of it.

I stood up and growled at them. I crouched down, ready to attack at any moment.

The shadows somehow glided down from the rock and appeared right in front of me. I bared my teeth and snarled in warning. The shadows shook their heads and began to lighten up until they were almost a powdery white.

I stared at them, squinting my eyes and tilting my head in confusion. One was a woman and the other, a man. They both smiled at me, almost as if they knew who I was. I was about to ask who they were but the woman put one finger up to her lips, almost as if she were shushing me.

They both, then turned their backs to me and pointed at the river. The river started to glow and as the water flowed through the river, so did the glow. Soon enough, the whole river was glowing.

"Follow it." The woman whispered before they both began to fade away.

I woke up with a start. I looked around only to see that it was 3 am. Fidelis was laying right next to me, his arms holding me against him tightly.

I carefully untangled myself from him and quickly ran outside. I ran through the forest to the clearing from my dream. I burst through the trees and everything was the same as it had been within my dream.

I saw the rock where the river seemed to begin and there were pink and yellow flowers littering the forest floor. I shifted, quickly, and followed the river, sprinting along side of it.

As I got further and further from what I now considered my home, I felt an ache in my chest. It was as if I was connected to a rope and I was pulling the rope, stretching it, wearing it thin. I dismissed the feeling and continued on.

It seemed as if I had been running for hours before I finally got to where the river fed into a small pond-looking lake. There were lily pads floating on the surface of the water, each carried a lily with a small light inside of it.

The lake seemed to be glowing, like the river had been in my dream. There was a small hut on one side of the lake and I hurriedly raced to it. I shifted back and knocked on the door softly.

Once

Twice

Three times

I stood there, looking around, watching, listening for a threat. The door was cracked open and a small girl, about 17 years old opened the door, one green eye staring at me.
