Just a quick heads up: there are some words that seem weird and you might not know what they are. They will all be translated either in this chapter or a later chapter. The words are italicized and are in latin so if you feel like Google translating them, be my guest.

Fidelis's POV

"Alpha, I shall be going on the perimeter check now." I bowed in respect.

"Be safe, son." After getting his blessing, I went outside and shifted. I ran through the forest, dodging ligna so as not to harm them. I finally saw the sign indicating that I was at the edge of the territory. I ran out onto the black forest floor and heard something screeching towards me. My ears perked at the sound and I looked to my right.

An object was moving quickly towards me. I dashed forward to avoid a collision and kept running. I circled around to the pack house and shifted before running to Alpha's office. I knocked twice and waited for his approval before entering.

"Son, you are back before your time." I bowed and then moved closer to Alpha's desk.

"Alpha, I was completing the perimeter check when I came to the edge of the territory. A foreign object came rushing towards me and I jumped out of the way in time to avoid a collision. I am not sure what its plan was but it was heading into our territory, not out." Alpha stood up and growled.

"You must gather the fighters and lead us to the site where you saw this object." I nodded, bowed and then left to gather the men quickly. I found them all resting in the family room.

"Brothers. Alpha needs us to investigate a possible threat to the pack." The six men nodded and followed me outside where Alpha was waiting.

"Shift quickly and we will all follow Fidelis." We all bowed and shifted.

I quickly ran to the edge of the territory. My wolf began howling in my mind and I slowed while the others ran on. I smelled a sweet scent. It smelled of bacas. The smell led to behind a rubum. I was about to move the rubum out of the way when Vates barked at me and spoke through the pack link.

'Brother, we must keep moving.' I nodded at him and we sprinted to catch up to the others. I ignored my wolf's whimpers and slowed my pace when we reached the black forest floor. We all shifted and moved towards one of the ligna.

"Is this what attacked you, Son?" I looked at Alpha and shook my head.

"It did not attack me. I'm not sure what its goal was but it seems to be hurt now."

"Yes, indeed it does. We must take it back to the pack house to see if Medicus can heal it. Then we may get answers once it awakens." We nodded and Magus teleported the object to the pack house so that we did not have to carry it back.

"Thank you, Magus." Magus bowed at Alpha and then we ran back home. Once there, we saw the pack protectors in a circle around a strange being. Alpha dismissed the protectors and we, the fighters, were left with the strange thing. Alpha shifted after commanding us to be ready to attack.

"Stand, rouge!" The female stood up as Alpha said and shook its head.

"Rouge? What's a rouge? I'm Elizabeth." Alpha growled at the thing for lying.

"Do not play games with me, rouge. I have no time to waste for a foreign object has entered my domain. So answer me this, how did you get here and why do you have a scent unlike a rouge or pack wolf?" Alpha demanded and brought my attention to her scent. Her scent was the one from before. My wolf began yipping with joy within my mind and he tried to inform me of something but I ignored him. I did not have time for his immature games at a time as serious as this.

"I got here using my car. I was just looking for help because I swerved so that I wouldn't hit a wolf and I crashed. I can't use my car at all and I saw the smoke from that house so I followed it here. I already told you, I'm not a rouge. I don't even know what a rouge is! And how could I be a wolf? I'm a human, like you." We all snarled louder and it jumped in fear. It reeked of fear but Alpha disregarded the pungent smell and growled.

"Vates! Read her. I have no wish to play these silly games that this rouge seems to urge me to play." Vates shifted from his red wolf into his mortalis form. He walked towards the thing but it scuttled away. It hits its back against a lignum, trapping itself.

"What are you? How did you do that? Don't touch me! Don't hurt me please, I didn't mean to intrude. I just wanted help!" It cowered and hid behind itself.

"She speaks the truth." Vates then shifted back into his red wolf and came back to us. We all stared at the creature trying to figure out what it was. Alpha growled and pulled the female up quickly forcing a cry from her. My wolf growled and took over my body. He jumped onto Alpha, making him release the female.

"Fidelis, son, what are you doing? Get off of me." My wolf growled and spoke through the pack link.

'She is mine!' Alpha looked at the female and then gave me his attention once again.

"Yes, I understand. I will not harm her. I am sorry." My wolf nodded and relinquished control back to me. I shifted and walked towards my mate. I moved to help her but she flinched away from me. It troubled me that she was afraid of me. Maybe it was because I was standing and she was sitting? I crouched down and looked at her curiously.

"Don't be afraid. I will never hurt you." She shook her head and looked at me with such fear in her eyes, it troubled me further.

"What are you? Where am I? Who are you?" I frowned and then tried to appear cheerful for comfort.

"We are Lycans. You are in Aberdeen Gardens, Land of the Lycans. I am Fidelis, next in line as the Alpha and you are my mate." She fell into me and seemed to be sleeping. I panicked and looked at Alpha.

"Is she hurt? What is wrong with her? I do not understand what happened." Alpha looked curiously at her before shaking his head.

"She is, what did she say earlier? Ah yes! She is hume-an and because we have not interacted with a hume-an before, we must hope that they heal as fast as us and just let her rest. Come, let us take her to Medicus." I carefully picked up my mate and carried her to Medicus. Alpha knocked on the medical room entry and opened the door.

"Medicus, we request your help." I set her down on a cubile for her to rest on.

"Who and what is this creature?" Medicus slowly approached my mate and tilted his head in confusion.

"This creature claims to be hume-an and she is my mate."
