SIX

A knock on her bedroom door had rudely awakened Marina. The girl's eyes quickly sprung open as her father continued knocking, "Marina! You're going to be late!"

As he knocked, her father was twisting and turning the door knob, which was locked. Marina tried to sit up but a heavy weight restrained her from doing so.

She looked over to see Sweet Pea sound asleep next to her, his arm draping over her chest. She picked it up, slowly trying to place it back at his side but it woke him up. He took his arm away, using the back of his hand to rub his eyes as Marina stoop up.

She opened the door, poking her head out. Her dad gave her a confused look, trying to peek inside the room.

"Why aren't you dressed?" He asked.

"My alarm didn't wake me up," she lied, "thank God for dads, right?" She laughed but it didn't amuse her father, who just shook his head.

"Hurry it up, please." As he walked away, Marina sighed and closed the door.

Sweet Pea sat on the edge of the bed, putting his boots on, "Not going to introduce me?"

Marina walked over to her closet, quickly picking out an outfit, "Hilarious."

She could feel him walking over to her as she kept her back towards the boy.

"Thank you," he said, quietly.

"Don't mention it," Marina took her shirt off and threw it to the side, "seriously."

Sweet Pea's eyes looked up and down the girl's toned back, that was covered by her lace bra straps, and swallowed.

"See you at school," he quickly mumbled, opening her bedroom window. Marina watched as he climbed out and could hear him grunt as he hit the ground.

She shook her head ad continued to get ready for another day of school.

As soon as Marina passed the security and metal detectors, Jughead was waiting for her. She smiled, "Well, hello there."

"Spare the act. I know you were there, what the hell happened last night?" Jughead questioned, walking next to the girl.

As the two headed down the halls, Marina sighed, "A fight between the Serpents and the Bulldogs, Sweet Pea spent the night-"

"Hold up, Sweet Pea? And you? Slept together?"

Marina shook her head, raising her eyebrows, "No, not like that! He just spent the night, completely non sexual."

"I bet you wanted it to be," Jughead joked as he opened the door leading to the courtyard. Marina punched his arm.

Sitting around in the courtyard was a table full of Serpents. Sweet Pea stood up, looking at Jughead, "Nice article your girlfriend's Mom wrote."

"Yeah, I saw that," he replied, "Dilton Doiley said he was stabbed when a bunch of you guys jumped him."

"Idiot stabbed himself," Fangs interrupted, "with his own knife."

Sweet Peas took a step closer, "And we didn't jump him, there was a fight, Bulldogs versus Serpents, and you see this?"

He gestured to his black eye, "Your boy Andrews gave it to me."

"Just before his girlfriend shot a gun into the air," Fangs added.

"And of course, Northsiders get off scot-free, and the rest of us are hauled in by the police, it's payback time."

"What are you guys talking about?" Marina questioned as Fangs laid out paper not he courtyard table.

Jughead pointed to the paper, "What is that? Is that a pipe bomb?"

Sweet Pea chuckled, tapping Fangs on the chest, "Fogarty's cousin served in the Army, he's gonna build us something. We'll do it after hours, but it'll shut the Riverdale register down once and for all."

"You think blowing up a building is going to make things better?" Marina raised her voice, her eyebrows furrowed. Her opinion of Sweet Pea quickly shifted back to what it had been before last night.

"Can't get any worse," he shrugged at the girl.

"Yeah, Sweet Pea, it can!"

Jughead jumped in, "Let me talk to Archie, let me figure this out."

"Man, that's your answer for everything. talk and more talk," Sweet Pea rolled his eyes, "And we don't even know who you stand with. Us? Or them? You can't be half a Serpent."

Fangs snatched the pair of the table, rolling it up as the group walked away only leaving Jughead, Toni and Marina behind. Marina ran after them, grabbing Sweet Pea's arm and turning him around. The boys stopped with him, looking at him for orders.

He nodded his head, "Go ahead, I'm good."

They walked away, leaving the two alone.

"So, that's your solution? More violence?"

"We do what we have to," he answered and anger boiled up inside of Marina.

"How stupid can you be? None of this is going to solve anything!"

"We'll see about that, sunshine," was all Sweet Pea said before walking away from the girl.
